Foursquare vs Mormon: which Sunday pin?

A Foursquare or ICFG listing is its own Sunday door, built around the fourfold gospel. The Mormon search usually lands on an LDS meetinghouse: hymns, talks, and trays, not a temple visit.

Foursquare vs Mormon: which Sunday pin? cover image

You searched Foursquare vs Mormon because two pins sat next to each other. Same Sunday. Not the same room.

One sign is a brand. Foursquare. International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. ICFG. The other search word is Mormon. The map usually says LDS, Latter-day Saints, or meetinghouse.

Read the name before you pick a door

If the listing says Foursquare, International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, or ICFG, that is this pin. Named fellowship. Not Assemblies of God. Not a vague Pentecostal mood.

The other pin rarely prints the word Mormon. Look for LDS, Latter-day Saints, a ward, or a meetinghouse. That is the weekly door. It is not the temple.

Foursquare or ICFG on the sign: Foursquare near me.

LDS, Latter-day Saints, or a meetinghouse: LDS near me.

The fourfold gospel is the Foursquare tell

Do not flatten Foursquare into "loud church" or into Assemblies of God. ICFG teaches a fourfold gospel. Jesus as Savior. Baptizer with the Holy Spirit. Healer. Soon-Coming King.

That list is the cue. You may see it on the about page or in how they talk about Sunday. A pin that only says Pentecostal will not give you that name. An Assemblies of God pin has its own fellowship. This door is Foursquare.

The Foursquare hour

A lot of Foursquare Sundays feel contemporary and expressive. Praise can run long. Prayer can get loud. Spirit baptism and gifts sit in the teaching. Tongues may show up. They may not. Staying seated is fine on visit one.

Each ICFG church still sets its own clock. Check the listing the morning you go. Do not borrow a start time from another town.

Meetinghouse Sunday, not a temple trip

An LDS Sunday is sacrament meeting inside a meetinghouse. Hymns. Member talks. A bishopric up front. Bread and water on trays, passed along the pews. Visitors are commonly welcome to sit through it. Taking it is your call.

The temple is a different building. Different preparation. Not a drop-in Sunday. If the photo is a temple, that is the wrong first pin. The Foursquare door is a church hour. The LDS weekly door is the meetinghouse.

Wards may share one building and stagger start times. Read which ward hour you mean before you leave. A Foursquare listing will not use that ward clock.

Only the word Pentecostal

Pentecostal is a wide family. Foursquare lives in that family as the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, with the fourfold gospel as its tell.

If the pin says Pentecostal and never says Foursquare, ICFG, or a fourfold cue, you do not have this door yet. Start softer: Pentecostal church near me.

When the name sharpens to Foursquare or ICFG, use Foursquare near me.

One belief fork, then stop

Foursquare teaching usually sits in a classical Trinitarian Pentecostal frame, with that fourfold gospel up front. Latter-day Saint teaching speaks of the Godhead, continuing revelation, and an open canon. You do not need to settle that to pick a door this morning.

Then go once

Name first. Foursquare, International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, or ICFG versus LDS, Latter-day Saints, ward, or meetinghouse. Mormon is the search word. The sign may not use it.

Room second. Contemporary Foursquare hour, Spirit baptism, gifts, fourfold gospel versus hymns, member talks, a bishopric, bread and water on trays.

Building third. Church door versus meetinghouse. Skip the temple on visit one.

Confirm the week you go. Sites go stale.

Foursquare or ICFG: Foursquare near me.

Meetinghouse sacrament meeting: LDS near me.

Only the word Pentecostal, no Foursquare, ICFG, or fourfold cue: Pentecostal church near me.

City or ZIP. Open the listing. Check the hour. Walk in once. The room will tell you if the pin was right.
