I began attending Outpost Church with my new bride around 2021, when Greg Brooks was the sole pastor and elder. We joined a married couples community group, and at first, things were strong—we were growing in Christ, the preaching was solid, and the group was supportive. After about a year, my wife began struggling with severe past trauma and was cutting herself almost daily. Concerned for her safety and well-being, I reached out to Greg Brooks and our community group for help. Instead of compassion, I was accused of being emotionally, spiritually, and financially abusive—claims I had never heard before, even from my wife. Shortly after, my wife told me she was going on a family trip, but it turned out to be a one-way ticket encouraged by members of the church. She was gone for nearly eight months. During that time, I repeatedly asked Greg Brooks, Tony Mong, and others for marriage counseling. Only one couple from the church offered help—our pastor refused. I was later called into a meeting and told I would be placed under church discipline for abuse unless I publicly confessed. No evidence was provided. Greg claimed to have recordings of me yelling and cursing but refused to let me hear them. I would not confess to something I did not do. I was removed from my community group and eventually excommunicated. I was told that if I returned to church property, I would be arrested. At the same time, the church continued supporting my wife. When my wife returned months later, I was given a “boundaries letter” restricting all contact with her. She was living in housing paid for by the church and spending time in social settings, including bars, with people connected to the church—even the counselor they referred her to. My concerns were dismissed as manipulation. Eventually, my wife admitted to having an ongoing affair. She told me she had informed church leadership and was told she would not face discipline and could continue attending. Soon after, she filed for divorce. I had taken a lifelong vow and sought reconciliation, even petitioning the court for counseling, but the divorce was finalized. I later discovered multiple affairs during this time. Throughout this process, I was cut off from the church and even from family members who were part of it. An email was sent instructing members not to contact me, so they would not hear my side. My alleged sins were never presented publicly, and I was never given a fair opportunity to respond. I have since reached out multiple times to the current elders seeking restoration, but I have been repeatedly denied, with claims that my repentance is not genuine. To this day, I have never received an apology. I lost my marriage, my church community, and relationships with family. Meanwhile, leadership involved in these decisions has remained or been restored. This is not an isolated experience. I am aware of others who have faced similar treatment. Be warned—don’t just take my word for it. I have emails, messages, and records documenting these events.

While visiting Cody we looked for a church similar to our home church. I found Outpost and after reading through their website we felt this would be a good fit. And we couldn't have been more right. The moment we walked in Pastor Greg was very welcoming and engaged with our entire family. He made us feel right at home. You could tell he loved everyone who walked into that building. He was very engaging with the congregation and you could tell everyone in the church enjoyed being there and loved each other. I've been to too many churches where people felted judged, this place is not like that. If I ever find myself back in Cody I'll be sure to stop by for service again. May God continue blessing Outpost and doing great things through them.

Recently I was in Cody for the passing of a friend & the service was held at the Outpost Church- Jake Williams was amazing as was the staff and lead pastor.Welcoming all who attended the service and taking care of the family. That Sunday I went to church before leaving and was greeted with enthusiasm and welcoming. Recommend this church for all who live in the area. I would be going there if I still lived in Cody. Thank you for all you did and your loving staff.
