I visited with my family during the summer of 2023, and the church made a powerful impression on me and my family. Solid biblical teaching was combined with liturgical worship. I even ran into a few friends there that I had not seen since college. One of my favorite aspects of their worship gathering is how they incorporate children into the worship time. They encourage children to pay attention to the message, the music, and the liturgy, and to write or draw about the things they experience, then leave their writing/drawing in the offering basket. The pastor then receives these offerings and incorporates them into his own personal prayers for this community.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting CTK when traveling this summer to Beckley. A delightful community, solid Bible teaching and theologically rich+congregationally accessible singing! We even stayed for a meal in the basement fellowship hall. We look forward to future visits and hearing how this new fellowship continues to grow and serve the neighborhood!

This church is a welcoming family, a faithful community, and a devout body of worshipers. If you are weary of hip fads passed off as cool Christianity, disenchanted by personality-driven churches, or frustrated by either shallow progressivism or cold fundamentalism, then this church might be a good place to visit. Biblically faithful. Welcoming. Devout. Joyful. Historically connected. Orthodox. The pastor is fantastic. You are welcome!

Our family has been so blessed and our spiritual lives richly increased by this church. This is a true outpost of what St. Vincent of Lerins called "the catholic faith which has been believed everywhere, always, by all," or what C.S. Lewis called 'mere' Christianity. The faith of the early church is alive and well in Beckley, WV. If you are looking, as we were, for spiritual rest in a chaotic world, and for the true and living Christ as He is revealed in the Holy Scriptures and the breaking of bread, then come and see!
