  The biggest issues I had were that they kicked me out for a plastic box opener that doesn't even break the skin and the employees STOLE $400 worth of packages from me. Eventually I had to threaten legal action and the packages suddenly appeared. I had asked previously and they denied having them. Who steals from homeless people? Staff there. I believe the dismissal for the tool I had, which was NOT a weapon and NOT being used to threaten people, was targeted. It was in plain sight for months and suddenly it was an issue after a routine room search, which they do weekly if not daily. The worst part was that they refused to give me a reason in writing, which their own literature says they have to do. They are also supposed to do a review by my case worker, which I was also denied. I asked and was denied these basic rights accorded to me by their own organization and do have it on video and documented. Then the review of my dismissal was done *by the people who dismissed me*, not by a third party. I'm giving two stars because they did help me and it's a little bit better sleeping accommodations than the warming center, but the people were much worse. The staff is about half cool, half not. They're super strict, doing everything *by the minute* or you get written up. The food is worse than the warming shelter; they mostly serve you expired Kwik Trip Donuts in the morning, which is better than nothing, but they have an entire food pantry there they seem to be not utilizing at all. Housing is typically in beds in multi-tenant dorms with two bins for your stuff, which is acceptable. The warming shelter at St. Luke's doesn't have showers, but they do have kind and courteous staff and better meals. Most meals were ok at SA, but they have no issues serving burnt food, as you can see. "You should be happy you get anything at all", seems to be their attitude.

  For being a Christian based organization, they are very judgemental. Getting kicked out for leaving a few minutes late because you get your period is ridiculous. The dumbest part about it, the case workers determines whether you stay or not. No investigation was done, no questions were asked as to why I was running late. This was the 2nd time I left late. The 1st time I was running behind. They will literally kick you out for anything. The pettiness is strong here. Another person that was staying there, overheard a staff member say that they wanted to jump over the counter & strangle one of us. Unfortunately, it is the only homeless shelter in this city, & with the growing rate of homeless people, we really need more homeless shelters, not another over priced apartment complex.

  Wanted to check out the accommodations to try to help someone I know who temporarily needs help. The photos are disappointing, they are all of the outside of the building? Not very helpful. Just even a long view could give some perspective. And of course helping the community is a wonderful help and gesture but having folks be kept inside for 27 hours is extreme.

  They were very kind in bring Pat-It-Fotward i to there place. I think all the resorses should get together. Open Door, Pay-it-Forward and other charity's to help build a better station for all in need

  Salvation army is like a dear old friend. You can count on them when you need. The representatives always have a smile and kind words for each person that they see. I have been a volunteer here as well as a client. I appreciate the services that they provide our area.

  Before I found a place rent I went to the local Salvation Army to see about seeking shelter until I was able to find a place I can afford, within fifteen minutes after speaking with the local branch I opted out of staying there until I was able to get somewhere else due to the fact that I was informed that from the hours of 7 PM until 10 AM I would be locked indoors. After spending a few months living in a group home and being in various hospitals I am unable to live in a confined situation comparably. I have showered there a few times and they do allow that during certain hours during the weekdays, but I'm still unable to feel comfortable in a Church related situation.

  The employees and the volunteers are great. Very friendly and willing to help with your needs. I never thought I would need their services but I got in a situation where I needed them and I couldn't be any more thankful that they are there to help.

  My husband and I are seniors living on social security. We go to the Salvation Army Food Pantry once a month by making an appointment. They always have a good selection of foods that we can choose from that are allowed for our special diets. There is almost always some produce, bakery and meats we can eat.
