Every Wednesday they have a free breakfast and bring a horrible group of homeless people into the neighborhood, this week someone threatened to shoot me through my window. Week after week there’s arguing and fighting outside waiting for the breakfast. When I went to talk to the lady that runs the breakfast about how they could fix the problem she just stared at me like child and didn’t have any verbal response for the issue. Insanely immature response, then another lady stared chirping in saying they don’t need to share anything with me and then they proceeded to call the police on me. Absolutely horrible group of people that run that church and very disrespectful. Quite the self centered group of people to invite all these homeless outside my apartment then deny any responsibility to what the type of people or actions these people take.

We are new to Madison and have found a wonderful church home at First United Methodist Church. Sunday morning worship is welcoming and spiritual, with beautiful music and a heartfelt, meaningful message for all. We have been so moved by the church's dedication to being "Downtown for Good," where "All Means All," offering everyone love and nourishment for the body and the soul. We are fortunate to have found a place where we can be in service in many different ways - from offering music, to serving breakfasts to anyone who is hungry. We are grateful to FUMC Madison and pray that you will join us in our journey.

This is more than a place to worship or a congregation; it's a community of faith that does all it can. There are so many reasons I attend, from the songs & worship to the good work that I'm supporting through my offering. They offer a free breakfast every Wednesday, food pantry, free Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, and do an occasional blood drive. Their saying is "All Means All" and they exemplify it. I'm proud to be affiliated with it, and I wish all churches showed the values which First Church shows.

My family and I have been members of First Church for almost 40 years. One of the major reasons we chose First Church was the Outreach and Social Justice ministries. I have been involved with the food ministries for almost that long as well. Our Hopes Home Ministry sponsors the Wednesday morning “Come as you are Worship and Breakfast” where we nurture both body and spirit. All are welcome to join us. At first church we embrace the Wesleyan Invitation: Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can. We are “downtown for good” and are here to serve any and all that choose join us at church on Sunday and Wednesday. Margot Fischer

My experience of this community of faith is that despite all the governmental assistance in caring for our homeless population they still are in need of a warm meal and a place to rest and restore themselves. This is where the Christian Church and specifically , First UMC comes into play. So many of our homeless have multiple challenges in their lives and it is imperative that our society do what is needed to ease their burden just a little. We are all part of the same human race and are called to care for one another. I am grateful for the church and it’s commitment to our community.

We are relatively new members of the church but we are very happy with our decision to join. I am struck by the churche's motto "Downtown for Good" We frequently volunteer at the Wednesday morning breakfasts which are free and open to anyone. I have found the people who attend to be overwhelmingly kind, respectful, polite, and grateful. This is the kind of service I believe churches should be all about and I am thankful to be part of a church that offers this type of program to the community. Another sign posted outside the church reads "All Still Means All" and I think the church does an outstanding job of embodying this philosophy.

We came to First Church in 1994 with three daughters, ages 5, 4, 3. It was such a welcoming church that has a wonderful understanding of the community. Me and my daughters participated in community meals for all who attended. Everyone was invited. My wife and I volunteered at the food pantry as well, helping out those who needed assistance. If you're looking for a church with heart, First United Methodist Church Madison Wisconsin, is a place where teachings are put into action. Hope to see you there

I’m not a member but have attended regularly for about 8 years. ALL people of all walks of life are welcomed, embraced, and supported through many different ministries here. The sermons (usually with a focus on grace, love, action, and justice), the amazing music program, and the very active ministries of this church keep me coming back.

First United Methodist Church in Madison has partnered with local non-profits in our community for decades, offering hospitality, support and sustenance. First Church is a warm, caring community that lives out the call of their faith to care for all our neighbors. Every time I visit First Church I feel welcomed, at home and in community with incredibly caring, compassionate individuals who are living their faith.

I consider myself to be agnostic and a recovering Catholic. I have never felt comfortable or safe in any church until I stepped into FUMC. Their mission and on the ground work to help improve the lives of unhoused individuals is incredible and selfless. It's like they actually practice what they preach. This church is run by some of the nicest and most caring people I have ever met. If you are looking to find a new and safe community, I suggest their young adults group.
