My wife and I visited Lighthouse Christian on Feb 14th in hopes to find a new church. I’m leaving 2 stars because of Head Pastor Brandon I believe in exploring my options before calling a church “home.” That means I want to speak with leadership and understand their Theology and how they handle real-world issues and sin inside the church. After service, my wife and I asked to speak with Pastor Brandon. I introduced myself and told him "we were new and wanted to ask a few questions about him and his churches Theology to see if this would be the right place for us". He said he’d be “more than happy” to answer. He quickly started acting like my questions were a trap. His tone changed, he became defensive, and he assumed I was trying to “get” him or write some kind of hit piece. He kept repeating that the questions I was asking were “the kind of thing for a 30-minute to an hour meeting”. God calls Christians to be prepared—especially when people are trying to discern whether they should commit to a church. That means to answer any question no matter the place or time. He never ended up asking for my contact information to answer the rest of my questions. Or ever invited me to get his information either. Twice during our conversation, I asked him if he wanted to ask any questions about me. Both times, he just looked at me blankly and said that he would have to schedule a meeting in order to do that. He wanted control of the environment instead of simply having an honest pastoral discussion. Then he got upset when I didn't talk about myself more. The contradiction and passive agressiveness from him was radiant. Question 1: I asked how the church deals with people who come in openly living in sin like Same Sex Relations, what the pastoral direction is and how they help someone repent but stay in the church. His answer boiled down to: “It’s sin, but we all sin, nobody’s perfect, including me.” That may sound nice, but it didn’t answer the actual question. “We all sin” without clear direction just turns into a blanket response that avoids discipleship and clarity for the sinner. Question 2: I asked how the church handles the situation if someone attending is here illegally—what the church’s stance is and what “doing things the right way” looks like. He basically said they don’t really have people who admit that, and that if ICE came in to arrest someone he wouldn’t interfere. Again, that wasn’t a clear answer to what I was asking. He was dodging because he thought "I could be a blogger" (His Words) Last question: (I made sure to ask him if he was comfortable talking about his childhood before hand) I asked if he forgave his dad for sins against him? He said yes. Then I asked if he forgave his mom for her sins against him. He said no, and the reason he gave was essentially that her sins “weren’t big enough” to forgive. If you’re preaching Christ, forgiveness is foundational. The standard can’t be “I’ll forgive you if I feel like your offense meets my threshold.” The way he spoke about his mother came across like he was afraid to confront her issues. He was quick to defend her and quick to call out his dad. He told us his Father yelled at him as a kid, but while he was preaching on the 14th he gave away he has also yelled and gets frustrated with his children. He said he hasn’t forgiven his mother, and his overall demeanor made him seem emotionally reactive and quick to anger when challenged. There are deep family issues there, Especially since he told us he is a "MOMMAS BOY", He needs to confront his mother and forgive her for imposing her will upon him. He will be set free from his Anger once he does that. He will become a man without getting emotional like God intended. According to him not a single person in 11 YEARS had ever come up to him after service to ask him those questions. That says a lot about the congregation and his character when he tried to scold me for inquiring about his church. You cannot learn from an ANGRY Pastor. I forgive you Pastor Brandon, even though you never asked a single thing about me.

Parking good, handicap parking close to main door, convenient restrooms handicap accessible, People friendly, convenient seating layout, usually plenty of seats available ( but don't come late to 9:00 am Sunday service 🙂). Kids Sunday school is downstairs. 2nd building has a fireside coffee shop and a gym with activities during the week.

Warm, welcoming and authentic. They keep the main thing the main thing here. Wonderful worship and solid preaching. Good kids and youth programs. Also one of the only churches I’m aware of that has a group for 18-25’s called The Well. Also appreciate their balance of local and global ministry and financial transparency.

For claiming Bible centered... There's a real questionable interpretation of those words... Spun into something exclusionary and without the holy spirit. Muttering a few words you learned in rote is not truly knowing your relationship with Christ.

This church is the first place in a long long long time that has felt like home. There's plenty of ways to be involved and always plenty of people willing to help you get situated and feel comfortable. They also have a fantastic Celebrate Recovery program.

We visited for a second time today and brought along our teenage children and two of their teenage friends, one of which who has been raised as a Jehovah's Witness. The teens attended the teen service. Upon discovering that one of the 4 was a Jehovah's Witness, they were told it wasn't the place for them and told it would be best if they left. Upon discussion after service, the youth pastor said that he didn't believe the teen to be a Christian and that he had to stand on hundreds of years of denominational doctrine. This man, the youth pastor, made this child feel unaccepted, unsaved, othered, and humiliated in front of his peers. This was wholly unBiblical, not at all of Christ or his teachings, and the most legalistic thing I have ever encountered in a church. Everyone should be welcomed in a church. Even after much discussion to this point, the man never apologized to the boy or any of the 4 children for making them feel rejected and unwelcome. I will not return to this church as I do not see that they are following Christ, God, or the Bible in their ways. This man should absolutely not be in a position of leadership as, at least in my experience with him today, his ego blinds him to any conviction of God.

I have been here 3 times now in the past month. The people have been nothing but welcoming and kind. I really enjoy Sunday service and leave feeling better than when I came in. I am looking forward to future services and getting to know the people in the church more.

Great church. Very welcoming! Bible centered. We have raised our family here and it feels more like family than a church!

Pastor is a first rate preacher. True to the truth of the word. Praise and worship is very good. People are welcoming. If I didn't already have a home church, I would definitely consider Lighthouse. Enjoyed every visit.

been attending this church with my family for around 2-3 years now and it's good. they have classes for kids of all ages and have many groups that you can join to get to know people better. Brandon (the pastor) took over recently and him and a few other pastors do a cycle where each one will preach once a month. If you are looking to get connected and help out they have lots of options!
