We are so thankful to have found this church! It has been our home for over ten years and continues to be such a special place for our family. Pastor George delivers inspiring sermons that have helped us grow both individually and together, and the worship band is absolutely fantastic and one of a kind. What truly sets this church apart, though, is the loving community. The people here are authentic, welcoming, and deeply supportive. You really have to experience it to understand just how special it is! If you’re looking for a family-friendly church in downtown Tacoma, this is a wonderful place to check out!

My family and I have been part of Garden City Church for over 10 years, and we have nothing but good things to say about our experience. This Church has been an incredible source of Community for us here in Tacoma. The teaching is thoughtful, grounded, and does a great job of avoiding polarization, especially in such a politically and socially charged climate. One thing I especially appreciate is the recognition that many of the issues we face in society are complex and multifaceted. Garden City Church creates space to thoughtfully wrestle with those tensions while staying centered on the teachings of Jesus. Another one of our favorite parts of this Church is the creativity of the music. It feels fresh, authentic, and unlike anything you would typically hear at most churches. The worship experience is unique and meaningful, and it reflects the creative spirit of this community. We’re incredibly grateful to be part of Garden City Church and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a welcoming Church and genuine Community in Tacoma.

Greed greed greed. A church that does absolutely nothing for the community that they planted themselves in. They dumped a couch from their parking lot onto an apartment lawn rather than calling 311 to have it removed from their property, or to simply throw it in the dumpster behind their church. Please, go back to wherever you all are from and leave our community alone. You guys make parking on sundays a nightmare for everyone who lives in the area. You close off your perfectly useable parking lot to use it one day a week, a parking lot that has been open for decades for free use that a small amount of cars park in. I have observed and no one camps out in their car in your parking lot. There is no reason to close it 7 days a week. Quit being greedy and please relocate to wherever your guests live. None of the surrounding neighbors want to attend your church or like your church presence.

My husband and I started attending here when I was going through one of the most stressful and difficult seasons of my life. This place is, without a doubt, home. The people are authentic, the worship is amazing, the teaching is honest, engaging, and theologically sound. Whitewater is engaged in the community and always looking for opportunities to bless others without pushing any sort of agenda. You will find a family here - people who will be honest with you, who will be there for you through anything, and who will encourage you towards Christ.

If this church disappeared would anyone in the community notice? There are so many needs in Pierce county and the people at Whitewater want to be a blessing. From middle school to youth center, foster care to seasonal celebrations we take loving our neighbor seriously. Not everyone is at the same place spiritually, but anyone can come and belong. My wife and I have been coming for a few years now and I am glad our family has such a great group to do life with.

Not great to have them as ‘neighbors.’ No care for the area known as “the common good,” or public right of way.

Whitewater church is an awesome place to be. It has been an amazing place to connect with wonderful people. Some who are searching for their faith and beliefs and others who are veterans in their faith journey. Without God and Whitewater, my life and my family's life would be drastically different today. This a wonderful community where you can belong before you believe.

Whitewater Church has been life changing for us. The community we have built here, and continue to build, is like family. People have cared for us during our seasons of greatest joy and seasons of greatest trial (like last year when our daughter was hospitalized for the first months of her life). This is what the church is all about! God’s love shines through his people and the leadership at Whitewater. Whether you are searching for a church to call “home” or you’ve never been to church, you will find love here. This church truly embodies their message of “belong before you believe.”

"Belong before you believe" They really meant it! This is a safe place to deconstruct and reconstruct your faith. Ask questions. Talk things through. Great worship with a band that does a lot of original music. You can check them out on Spotify!

I’ve been involved with a lot of the churches in the area and I can honestly say that the sense of community and inclusion is what brought me back time and time again. Though I have friends at other churches whitewater has truly given me a family that I didn’t expect. Wherever you are in your religious journey, from long time Christian to someone who’s just trying to find out if this whole Jesus thing is for you there is a place for you here. They often say “belong before you believe” at whitewater but more importantly they act on it. Bottom line this is a church with excellent teaching, exceptional worship and a welcoming and open community. Drop by on a Sunday and see for yourself.
