My hope is for anyone curious about faith and church-life would find exactly where they need to be. And if you’re considering New River Fellowship I would be so excited for you to experience the community, Bible teaching, mission minded, and intentional people that come together and call this place home. My family has found it to be an amazing representation of the Body of Christ in the New River Valley. What more could you ask for to have a place that challenges you and sends you out to in the community to think deeply about your faith and live it out. Highly, highly recommend this community!

New River Fellowship can appear as hospitable, sincere, and peaceful. But far beneath the sweet and simple lies a lot of miscommunication, disorganization, and finally certain authoritarian members as part of the "old regime". That would rather do whatever they can to hold their positions more for their benefit than the benefit of the church itself. Often there is a lot of complaining at business meetings of not enough people applying to leadership roles, how to pay the loan on church property there, to even who's doing what when it comes to networking. Those that get involved and speak up? Are immediately censored. The Elders there play their pastor much like a puppet, and dare not let him have his voice too much in matters of the congregation. Their Bible Study group is even worse at Warmhearth not so much the people, but the person leading it. For if anyone speaks up on groups concerns are censored and outcasted. Purely they pander to a more Puritan doctrine.

EDIT: So we ended up leaving this church a few years ago, the original that we attended was New River Community Church and it started out wonderful. Mike was a great pastor, however he fell victim to the "Churchiness" of the parishioners when they didn't approve of his personal life decisions. They turned on him quickly and he was eventually forced from the church. I know nothing of the current Pastor, however since the attendees are mostly the same (I refuse to call them Christians) I will not ever be returning. ------------------------------------------------------------------ This is my home church, I want looking for one when I found it and had all my life had nothing but bad experiences with the church. This is the first church where I have felt at home even though I'm far from perfect, I am excepted and loved for who I am. I recommend this church to anyone that wants acceptance and a break from the dreary hymns of traditional churches and the sincerity that you can't find in mega churches.

Great but the only problem I had was with Christmas help for grandparents. Told three different stories....will help then can't help. I found it unfair to help some and not others. I'm new to the area and that disturbed me as a resident.
