I’ve had such a meaningful experience at Church at Hampton Roads. What really stands out is their genuine encouragement for each person to develop a personal, authentic relationship with God—not just attend services, but truly grow spiritually in their everyday lives. The community is incredibly welcoming, no matter your background or where you are on your faith journey. From the moment you walk in, you feel accepted and valued. It’s clear that this church is passionate about creating a space where everyone can belong, ask questions, join a team based on their gifts, and deepen their faith at their own pace. If you’re looking for a place that emphasizes connection with God and embraces people from all walks of life, I highly recommend checking it out.

This is a great place to come and worship the Lord Jesus Christ. The people greet you with the love of Christ. The worship is awesome and the preaching phenomenal. The children and youth ministry have great leaders and your children will learn about Jesus Christ and the ways of the Kingdom of God. The Church is involved with the community and does several out reach events. I have found a Church home and thankful that the Lord has led me to this family.

I can you tell you one thing, It’s a TRUE come as you are church. CHR is true to the Word of God and they practice what they preach. Its community turned into family. CHR has personally been a blessing to my spirit and my life.

I moved to Chesapeake in 2018. My daughter found CHR for me before I even moved. She lives in Louisiana and was attending an Association of Related Churches (ARC) church when I visited her. I enjoyed the experience so much that she searched churches the Chesapeake area and discovered CHR is under the ARC umbrella. I joined CHR in 2019 and my life has been dramatically transformed in so many positive ways. I never understood what it meant to "do life together" until I started attending. It's really about have a relationship with God and the people you surround yourself with, not religion. I have the privilege of being surrounded by people who have supported me during the darkest times of my life as well as breakthroughs - people who I see model what it truly looks like to depend on God and value service to others over self. I spend more time with my church family during the week than on Sundays. And if some reason I don't see them, there's a real sense of loss. Pastors Joel and Sarah Brown are transformational leaders with a bold vision for Hampton Roads. They are not focused on what is expedient or easy, but what is necessary and sometimes unpopular. Thankfully, they model what Jesus did during ministry. Joel and Sarah are invested in people, the community, and our church ministries, which is clearly evident in the impact and experiences created. From worship and youth groups to hospitality and missions (local and international), no detail is too small. I am thrilled to be a part of CHR and about how the experience I have there continues to help me mature spiritually. They pour into me and I am happy to reciprocate. Faith without works is dead.

I love Church at Hampton Roads! Words cannot fully express my gratitude for the hearts of the people that we get to do life with. Pastors Joel and Sarah truly care about the members of the congregation and make a point to know and be involved in the lives of those who are open to authentic transparent connection. Since our first time at the church, they’ve shown that they care about my son and me not just as people in the church, but also about our lives outside of the four walls of the church. It’s clear that they truly love people with the heart of Christ. Moreover, the men in the church have come alongside me to speak truth into my son’s life, the women of the church have been such an encouragement and a sisterhood for me to grow and to learn, and the youth group speaks truth and life into a generation that is facing great confusion and little guidance elsewhere. CHR has become our home; the leadership and the members our family. I am so thankful God has brought us here.

I met the love of my life there…Jesus! We were welcomed with love and sincerity day one and it has not changed. The kids ministry has been so great, my daughter has made some wonderful friends and has had so much spiritual growth.

I have been a part of CHR since day one 13 years ago, and it has truly become my family. Pastors Joel and Sara Brown are incredible leaders who lead with transparency and love, treating every member like their own kin. This isn't a place where you just "attend"—it’s a community where people walk through the valleys with you. CHR stood by me through my hardest seasons, helping me overcome personal struggles and addictions through accountability and grace. If you want a church where you aren't just a number, but are genuinely loved and known, I cannot recommend CHR enough. It is a home for the soul.

I've been attending CHR for about 11 years almost. They're a very authentic church and the pastors and congregation really care for one another like family. Definitely recommend this church.
