For those visiting from cruises, mass times are 9am, 10:30am, 12pm and 1:30pm. We left the ship around 8:40 and took a quick taxi, made it to 9am mass. Its about a 25 minute walk from the port dock. Don't forget to visit the chapels in the back and venerate a corporal relic of San José María de Yermo y Parres.

This is a catholic church and when I visited is already 430pm on Sunday. The church is nice and quiet and few people praying in the church. There are some church materials left on the church benches for people to read and meditate. The environment of the church is very peaceful and the glass art are beautiful. I will be back again.

Mexico as most of us know as a Catholic country, has a spiritual basis in its origin and practice. When I was in Ensenada last summer, I was on a journey. Some Called it an adventure and some called it foolish, and I was in Ensenada without a car and a huge load of my possessions in a travel trailer. It's not a big travel trailer but big enough that I could pull it as a pedestrian. But I needed to have more mobility and I called my publisher and asked what I could do. He publishes a wonderful online and paper journal called Baja news, which is a good way to get to know the lay of the land if you're Americano. I asked him what I should do with my things so that I could get around. He said let's go to the cathedral and inward lay. I said to myself I'm not sure that mass or prayer is what I need right now but he's the publisher and he knows his way around. We got to the cathedral and he said let me take it inside for you and I released the cart that had a lot of my stuff that was important to me. Three days later, we returned to retrieve my stuff and as I remember it, he let them know that I was there to pick it up and tremulously. I took the cart and was on my way. I knew I had been picked clean as they say, but I didn't really care because the load was gone, and I had gone to the hospital and they checked me out and said I was in fair shape to travel. I got to a resting place and started to look through my things inside. There was a wallet with extra credit cards, and and my extra passport and a bunch of other stuff that was really valuable to me, and as I started rifling through my possessions, I was astonished to see that nothing had been disturbed by the Catholics who came and went every day. Nothing even was moved. Now, as I tell the story, I am moved because it was like the hand of the life force which the Catholics would call Jesus Christ or God had protected them, and my possessions were all intact. I walked away from the cathedral and by the time I got to my hotel, I had already lost a phone and other possessions were mysteriously missing from the trailer that was following me. And I realized that inside the Catholic cathedral, there was sanctuary but outside it didn't follow us into the street. People ask if there is crime in Mexico and of course there is crime in every country everywhere in the world but in Mexico, there is also sanctuary and now I know that it's possible to be protected by the Catholicism that also wrinkles me because I don't believe. But I will say that that experience earned them the five stars that I'm giving them and I was intrigued and filled with all for the mystery that was revealed that there is comfort in a Catholic Cathedral for a traveler. Remember this is you go to Ensenada and have a chance to see the beautiful cathedral for our Lady of Guadalupe. I'm not sure you can leave your car outside, but I'm pretty sure you can't take it inside. Good luck in your travels. May your journey be blessed.
