I sometimes like to go off the beaten path and explore and discover new places and things. This was such a spot and it was fun and informative. The Old Hay Bay Church goes back a long way in the times of the loyalists. If you have a chance pay a visit and you will get a thorough explanation and historical lesson as well by a nice ‘young’ gentleman. 👍😎

The Hay Bay Church opened for the 400+ cyclists on the Discover L&A County ride. It was my first time in the church. It is well preserved with several items on display to explain the history. Well worth the visit.

No tickets needed. They do an annual service the last week of August in the building to commemorate the drowning of 10 youth in Hay Bay in the 1870's... There's a minister in the cottage next you the church who is there to do tours and care for the building each week. They rotate the minister's out so that they each care for it one week. Pretty cool.

Lovely restored church built in 1792. Very knowledgable staff ( happened to be Trustees) on site.

This is a fun piece of history to visit. There has been a lot of care and preservation done, especially in the past 3 years. If you visit, there are custodians that are in the cottage beside the church. They usually great you, but if not, go knock on the door, and they come give you a tour and answer any questions.

The 90 year old guide had so much information and history about the area. Well worth the visit.

So much history here. Come and spend some time and absorb some of Canada's history. It's still standing and being taken care of by the church. Very welcoming, peaceful, and gracious place.
