During the 2013-2016 municipal administration, the city council declared this building a historical monument, as it did not have such a designation with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) or any other government institution. As a result, we were later able to access the Natural Disaster Fund for the damage caused by the atypical rains of 2015. Due to the delay in receiving the funds, we invested approximately $200,000 pesos to partially carry out the reconstruction or repair of the damage. During the three years of our administration, we illuminated this church every October, and it looked beautiful, attracting many visitors from the region.
