Such a let down, climbed the stairs to the top and it was all locked up. What is San Felipe thinking?it’s the weekend and your one pitiful attraction is closed?

I climbed the stairs with my Fiance on 3/15/2020 to get views of San Felipe. Nice views, but it was crowded and dirty from the bird poop and sea air.

It has incredible views of the port and El Machorro hill. There are quite a few stairs, but it's worth climbing to the top. Besides the view, there's an offering to the Virgin of Guadalupe. I recommend going in a group since the place is very isolated and looks quite abandoned, and there are a few shady characters around. It's noticeably poorly lit at night, so be careful. It's a highly recommended place to visit in the city.

From here you have majestic panoramic views of the port of San Felipe, Cerro del Machorro, the Sea of Cortez, the lighthouse, etc. It's worth mentioning that there are a lot of stairs, so my recommendations are the following: - Wear light clothing and comfortable shoes, as you'll be doing a lot of walking. - Bring water because you'll get thirsty from all the climbing. - Go during the day and with someone, as the place is isolated and you could be robbed. - If you're religious, don't forget to bring an offering to the Virgin of Guadalupe, as there's a small chapel dedicated to her, the patron saint of the fishermen of San Felipe. Note that it's currently closed, but there's a small space where you can leave flowers.

From this vantage point, you can see the entire San Felipe Bay. It's recommended to go in a group to climb up to the chapel. Sometimes, homeless people sleep there to escape the cold.
