Re: The Sign. Was put up a couple of weeks ago. Was about pride in general. Our own most of all. It was changed yesterday on our regular rotation but not before causing offense. We completely own the tone-deafness and the hurt caused and ask forgiveness. Not our intent but certainly our fault.

This is my home church for the last 22 years; we joined at a point in our lives where we were strung out from years of stress at our former church, and the people were very welcoming and friendly. A majority of the congregation are post-WWII Dutch immigrants and their descendants, and it has been fun to get to know them.

Sign out front reads: “Get rid of your pride before you have to swallow it”. For the start of pride month. In extreme poor taste, either homophobic or tone deaf.
