This Methodist church (as a denomination) claims to be believers and followers of Jesus; it saddens my heart that instead of showing compassion, mercy, love, and generosity to someone who appeared to be in need you [the church] were apathetic and indifferent. God has called us to have compassion for others, to love as brothers, to be pitiful and courteous (1 Peter 3:8). We are to show mercy, love, and compassion; serving others to be a witness of God’s love for his people. As a church you have greatly missed an opportunity to show God’s mercy, grace, and love to someone seeking refuge in His presence. Not only was this a missed opportunity but it could have been a tragedy. If the person you sent away didn’t already know God, your lack of compassion could of sent them further away from the God’s salvation. I pray that you [the church] will find a way to show the same love, mercy, and grace to the next person that ends up at your doorstep that God shows all of his children.
