I want to give a shoutout to the Abbey on Lovers Lane. For those interested in making a spiritual connection or enhancing their spiritual life, this is a wonderful place to do that. I have participated in several of their classes both on zoom and in-person at the Abbey. In February the 4 week class was on Pete Greig's book, God on Mute, about unanswered prayers and this month on the writings of CS Lewis. They offer classes both during the day and in the evening. They also have retreats, individual spiritual direction and a website with resources like a blog and podcast. Check it out.

I am pleased to have learned about The Abbey on Lovers Lane. I made my first silent retreat there this past weekend. The Rev. Tom and Marcia Hotchkiss introduced retreatants and reviewed an outline for our retreat. The group was encouraged to visit the kitchen for snacks and drinks. Handouts were provided to help each person individualize their retreat to fit their personal needs. The handouts encouraged discerning what things in our individual lives seem supportive and life-giving, as well as what might be needed in order to discover more love, joy, hope and peace. Certain of the handouts were designed to encourage retreatants to reflect on how their time and attention are focused and to identify relationships that might need more attention. St. Christopher's Church, adjacent to The Abbey, offered a beautiful and sacred place for meditation and the neighborhood provided a serene setting for a quiet walk enjoying the springtime beauty of nature.
