Sugar Land Family Church

Friendly people and awesome music, but not truly inclusive. The people at Sugarland Family Church were very friendly, and the music was absolutely awesome — truly uplifting and heartfelt. I really wanted to love this church and return regularly. However, today’s sermon focused on the idea that because God created man in His image, there are only two genders, and that only a man and woman can marry. That message felt exclusionary and left out many other teachings of sin from the Bible that are not often preached today. Homosexuality isn’t even mentioned in the Ten Commandments, yet it was treated as a major sin. The church says that “everyone is welcome,” but that doesn’t seem to include LGBTQ+ people. Sure, it was said LGBTQ people would be “respected”, but not following the Bible. That position doesn’t reflect true inclusivity or the love I believe faith should represent, nor everything in the Bible. And for a small church, I think this might hinder building a congregation. Me, my 7 straight friends, and our families will not be attending in the future. If it weren’t for this sermon and the church’s stance on gay marriage and trans people, I would gladly return — because the music was truly wonderful!

The true word of God here is not watered down. All teachings come strait from truth in love. The people, Pastor, worship, and message were all amazing. It was refreshing to see a church who will stand true to the word of God, and with absolutely zero hate or exclusion. They say all are welcome here and they truly mean that. It’s reflected with their words, actions, and teachings. I’m glad to know I don’t have to worry about if what I’m hearing is actual truth or not. And as a bonus, the worship here too has been my favorite from all of the places I have been. The Holy Spirit’s presence is strong through the building, and you can tell that people are there to worship God.

Loved, loved, loved this church! Pastor Nate is amazing; his message is always encouraging. Music team comprised of talented and faithful individuals serving each week with incredible music! Church is extremely welcoming and diverse. Children's program although small, but I can tell the church puts in lots of effort to run a good children program, including the youth. Sadly we moved out of SL area and had to leave this church. May God continue to do great work and expand His kingdom through this body of Christ.

This is a really good church. If your looking for a positive place to bring your family on Sundays and to be encouraged, I would recommend this church. My husband and I do not really go to church but decided to try this church out b/c it is so close to our house. We have been here only a few times but we always leave feeling better than we came in! The worship is so nice and the pastor is very kind, encouraging and positive. You can tell that he really loves and cares for the people in his church. There is a good amount of young families here. Also people aren't weird around you b/c your new...I've been to some churches where there so weird around you b/c your new and that makes me feel so awkward and scared to go back lol. The entire service is about an hour long and the preacher does not try to guilt you with a lengthy tithe message like some churches. Over all I would definitely say to give this church a try. So far it's been a very positive addition in our lives.

We felt welcome from the second we walked into the Church. Pastor Nate is great and when he isn't there , the message is still on point. You can't go wrong by visiting this wonderful Church. Give alot of credit to all of the volunteers who are the unsung heroes. This truly is a family church

This has been our church home for 17 years and we love it! It's a place to come and stay. The community we have come to be a part of has helped us have a healthy family and given us incredible, lifelong friendships. We are constantly growing spiritually and personally. Sugar Land Family Church has been nothing short of incredible! This church has been completely life-changing for me and I know others will feel right at home too. The pastors are the friendliest, most welcoming people. And they even make sure to walk around the church and introduce themselves to everyone they can! From the greeters and people to help serve coffee, to the childcare team and everyone in between, everyone has been so warm and inviting and sure to make you feel right at home. I’ve heard them say “come as you are” a few times and I believe no other words to be truer. Pastor Nate Keller’s messages are full of encouragement and hope, and are directly applicable to everyone’s lives no matter where you are in life.

I’ve been coming here since 2013, and SLFC has become my home. The members of this church are truly my family, and they have been by my side since I’ve started coming to this church. Pastor Nate and Dena are great pastors who lead this church with a spirit of excellence. SLFC is the friendliest church I’ve ever been to, and will welcome anyone with open arms. Definitely 6 stars!

"Great" Teaching in "real world" applications. Nice Casual dress and very welcoming. Coffee, Child Care, Wi-Fi , Low lights and very relaxing santuary. I call this the Little Big Church because everything you would get from the building to the amenities in a large Church is here but in a very small package. . .
