Where have I been all my life? I've been to several churches, but the Winbush church has been on my top list of favorites to where I can't wait to go to church. The building itself is nothing fancy (doesn't have to be). It's like a cozy warm living room. There was never a time I was freezing in there, or burning up. When I walked in, the temp was just right. Speaking of walking in, the first morning I did so, it wasn't even 30 whole seconds before and elder tugged me to join her New Beginners group. That was how quickly I was invited. The church is also heavily invovled in the upbringing of children and leading them in the right direction. Even with all the hollering and praising and speaking in tongues, they are well behaved, perhaps becuase they're playing on their phones or preoccupied by something else. However, if they misbehave, the pastor is going to say something, but you know, it takes a village to raise kid. Mr. Winbush is not like one of those typical traditional pastors. I've never met a pastor that has personally called on my name several times and made me feel included. He has demonstrated many times that he is available to meet up in person or talk over the phone. In the past, I've had one pastor I repeatedly tried to talk to about some troubles and he kept trying to send me off to another pastor or put me in a social group as if he was afraid to help me. I wanted to hear from HIM. There was one other pastor before him who had a big church, yet it was IMPOSSIBLE to even shake his head and reach him any kind of way. Mr. Winbush is not like that, and that's something I really appreciate. One thing I like about his preaching is that he really gets our imaginations to come to life to understand the Living Word. He will physically demonstrate the power of the Word as if to reenact the very power of the word. Honestly, this church is unpredictable, and many people there are funny and have very peaceful presences.
