A church is so much more than a beautiful building, which Saint Phillips very much is, but the church is a congregation of people that come together in our broken lives to try to help one another become the best Christians that we can be in this fallen world , regardless of a building. Having said that, the collective personality of a church body can change over time, but I believe that Saint Phillips has consistently had a strong uplifting congregation for over 100 years. Everyone is extremely welcoming the moment you walk in the door, but not in a weird way where you feel fawned over. Furthermore, the Reverend Dr. Michael K. Marsh, has got to be one of the most impressive sermon writers and preachers I have ever heard. He does not deliver in a foo-foo TV personality way, or over emphasize or over emotionalize his manner of speech, as so many are in the habit of doing. He is one of the most genuine humans I have ever met, and his demeanor does not change when the church service is over. Whether you meet him at H‑E‑B or outside mowing his lawn, you will get the same Mike Marsh every time. He is a wonderful leader of his congregation and his community and truly strives to be Christlike in every way, and this is evident in everything he does. For this reason, my husband and I feel like Saint Phillips is the place that we can raise our children to be the people that God wants them to be, and that we will be encouraged to be the people and parents that we are meant to be as well.
