As a fellow clergy member, I recently had the opportunity to be present at a funeral service held at Saint Mark's Methodist Church. I approached this experience with deep reverence, understanding the significance of honoring a life well-lived. However, I must share my concerns regarding the treatment I witnessed towards the funeral service professionals, hoping to foster awareness and improvement within the congregation. During the service, I witnessed a concerning level of rudeness and aggression from the Church Administrator. This behavior was observed by several congregants, many of whom expressed their apologies on her behalf. This highlighted a disconnect between the church's leadership and the values of compassion and dignity that should characterize any Christian community. Additionally, I witnessed abrasive attitudes and tones from some church members who insisted on things happening out of sequence, complicating an already emotional and sensitive occasion. This led me to speak with the senior pastor about my experience. I emphasized that the role of the funeral professionals was to provide a dignified service for grieving families, in accordance with their wishes—not those of the church. As a resident of this community, I was deeply troubled by the treatment experienced. It made me reflect on how I would be treated should I visit the church for a service. This experience has prompted me to believe that the congregation needs to engage in prayer and reflection to better understand the true nature of Christian service. It is essential to treat all individuals with dignity and respect, particularly during moments of vulnerability. On a positive note, I want to commend one gentleman who approached the funeral service professionals at the gravesite. He genuinely inquired about their treatment and upon hearing concerns sincerely apologized for the actions of some church members and staff. His compassion was a reminder of the biblical teaching to be mindful of how we treat strangers. This message is not one of condemnation but rather a call to awareness. As Christians, we have a responsibility to embody love and kindness in all our interactions. I hope my experience serves as an opportunity for reflection, encouraging us all to strive for improvement in our treatment of one another. Let us pray for Saint Mark's Methodist Church, seeking a deeper understanding of what it means to serve others in love and humility.

Seems like a good place to worship. Peaceful area and clean parking lot. I was there for another meeting, not for church. I have no comment about their services, but the people I encountered there were friendly.

I called the church for some information, but the office was closed. I tried to leave a message, but your system requires the caller to enter an extension # or a portion of the person's name. I don't know any names of your staff, nor do I have any extension numbers. So, I was out of luck! Please consider an option where just a general message can be left. I'll try to call back another time.

I'm not sure why churches in El Paso lock up all week save for an hour or two on Sundays. Shame.
