We are 2 women who are hitchhiking across Texas right now. We were surprised by this extremely cold wet weather here in San Angelo the past 3 days. On Thursday around 7.30 we walked up to the church. It was raining and the wind really hurt our faces. We needed some form of shelter. We needed to get out of the wind and that’s why we were standind under the little roof by the side of the office building. We also saw that the office was supposed to open at 8. We hoped we could talk to somebody and maybe charge our phones or use the bathroom or warm up in there. At maybe 7.45 a white pick up truck came around the corner. A very unfriendly older man asked “What are you doing?” We told him “We have to get out of this wind. That’s why we are standing here.” The man was not interested in our well being. He just said: “This is a private property. You gotta leave!!!” We told him “But this is a church…” The man didn’t even let us finish our sentence. He just repeated “This is a private property. You gotta leave.” We asked him if he was a church member or the pastor and he said he was a church member. We told him we would like to speak to the pastor but again he didn’t even let us finish our sentence. He was just waving his cell phone in our faces and said: “Do you wanna talk to the cops? You gotta leave or I call the cops.” We tried again: “We would like to speak to the pastor…” But he just repeated: “Do you wanna talk to the cops??!!” So we walked away into the rain and ice cold wind. We know that there are many people in this world who obsess about their private property but as Christians we really shouldn’t do that. After all, when we decide to follow Jesus we give everything that we are and that we own to Jesus. So really, as a Christian you do not have “private property” anymore. It all belongs to Jesus. Especially when we are talking about a Christian Church. The church property is always the property of the Lord. So you have to use that church in a way that it is pleasing to the Lord and there is nothing worse than to chase two women who are cold and wet out into the rain. Jesus gave us very clear commandments and as a Christian Church you have to conduct yourself in a way that honors Jesus commandments. If Jesus is Lord of your Life, than you do as he has commanded you. Jesus said “I was a stranger and you took me in.” But that church member did not invite us in instead he chased us away… It is very sad to see that your church does not obey Jesus teachings. How do you want to lead people to Christ if you yourself don’t know Christ? How do you want to preach the gospel if you yourself don’t seem to have ever read the gospel?
