A slave church existed here with a small cemetery. In the early 80s a group of white youth used it at night for occult purposes. It was set on fire and burned down. No arrest were made. The membership had dwindled to a handfull. Around midnight I saw the glow of the fire from my church yard in Lawrence on FM1392. A historic marker was never placed here. It looks like a vacant lot today Mt. Calvary was the place local slaves found spiritual comfort and where they forgave those who trespassed against them.
