Messiah Lutheran Church is a fabulous family oriented church. They helped me find my way back to God and all his glory. I was welcomed as a new member with no questions asked and no judgement. I am luck to have found such a great place to worship.

I have been the secretary here for four years and I am so grateful for this church! The members are so kind and thoughtful. The leadership has personally prayed me through the most difficult time of my life. They have been so compassionate and caring towards me through a recent family crisis. The three wonderful pastors that have served during my tenure have all been intentionally temporary. One of the three was a settled pastor that had always wanted to shift to intentional interim (temporary help for various congregations across the country) and he was able to do so sooner than expected. Unfortunate for Messiah, but praise be to God for His unexpected blessings! It was a pleasure serving with each one of them and we all still keep in touch. As a member of a different congregation and denomination, I have great respect for the Lutheran liturgy and process of calling a permanent pastor. God is glorified in organization and carefulness. They take surveys of the members' opinions, asks everyone's preferences of worship styles, and even personal priorities. I've never seen another church so greatly consider the input of others. I have personally witnessed how this church loves and welcomes the outsider, considers opinions, addresses concerns, and does their best to communicate and work together to find solutions. May God honor and bless this church and their desire to serve Christ and the community.

As a member, I am proud of how this church has supported our pastors on two separate occasions over the years. In one case, a pastor and his wife were seriously ill at the same time. A member of their family arranged for a nurse, who was also a relative, to take care of them at their house. The nurse took unpaid leave to conduct this mission of mercy. The church paid for the nurse’s lodging expenses and lost wages. Church members brought food and delivered medicines to the home. Members prayed for their healing via phone and text. While pastor was in the hospital, his wife and the nurse felt threatened by an aggressive door to door salesman. Upon learning of the situation, two members quickly went to the home to assess the situation and made sure his wife and the nurse felt safe and secure in their home. In another instance, the elders suggested and a pastor expressed an interest in attending ten days of intensive instruction and peer learning spread over three conference retreats. The retreats ensure that pastors will be emotionally and spiritually refreshed so they can faithfully pastor their flock. Two church leaders attended one of the retreats. The church paid for the retreats and gave pastor time off to attend.

I’ll not tell you my age, but I am a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Corpus Christi, Texas. That in and of itself should tell you something of the congregation I belong to. We are not a mega church, nor do we have a front-page ad on the local media sources. I will not discuss statistics nor LCMS theology here, but what I will say is that this Church has fed me the true Word of Jesus Christ and offered me opportunities that have blessed me beyond measure. To serve the church that has served me is an honor and blessing that I will cherish forever. We teach Christ crucified, we are saved through Faith in Jesus as the true begotten Son of God who lived, died and rose from the dead in order that we might receive forgiveness and the inheritance of eternal life with Him in heaven. This I say to show the depth of earnestness that I feel toward this congregation and the church's foundation on God’s Word and Sacrament. Is this the best congregation in the world?, probably not, and it isn't the most glamorous, but it is my church, Christ’s Church, and will remain so I suppose until I meet my Maker face to face. To God be the Glory and Majesty for ever and ever, Amen!
