Definitely a place you should visit at least once! Going on a pilgrimage through the Archdiocese of San Antonio to the places marked as Jubilee of Hope sites, my husband and I made our way here. Spent a few minutes at the Historical Society center across the street before mass and they explained how the town came to be and their connection with Poland, which was why Pope St. John Paul II visited. I love the history and beauty of the church. Before mass begins, almost everyone from town congregates to pray the rosary. We were able to join others in praying the rosary. The church is beautiful and inside is even more spectacular than I would have guessed. After mass, we walked the grounds a little more. I loved how kind and friendly the parishioners were to newcomers. I definitely want to come back, hopefully during Advent or Christmas season, if I can. God willing.

My fourth great grandfather was Leopold and it’s such an amazing feeling knowing that my family was part of the history in creating this Polish settlement. I live in North Texas and can’t wait to visit.

Such a beautiful church with a a deep Polish-Texas history. I was so excited to find out the oldest Polish settlement in Texas was near where I lived! I am Polish and wanted to learn more about my ancestry. Seeing this was an absolute gem. I am glad to see it has been so well maintained over the years. I feel like in South Texas (outside and south of San Antonio) the history is not preserved very well down here. This place has preserved this. It’s greatly appreciated

My grandparents wed there in 1923. I wear my grandfather’s ring today. Earlier this month we visited Pluznica-Wielka in Silesia where Fr. Moczegemba was from as well as my grandmother’s grandmother. Blessings to all the Texas Poles!
