Being from Starr County and a professional musician, I have been asked to play at many weddings and funerals on different occasions. I have had the pleasure of being worship music minister at Our Lady of Refuge, Our Lady of Sorrows, Holy Spirit McAllen, and currently Sacred Heart in Edinburg. I have had years of experience and have my degree in Music. In all my years of giving my talent to the church-not one priest has ever made me feel so ignorant and insignificant like this priest. I was asked to play at a funeral-I set up all my equipment-piano-mic-stand-speaker. No one was there to let me know where…long story short. Priest scolded me and pretty much made me feel so uncomfortable that I decided to leave. I give my talent to my lord…however not all who appear that way have kindness in their heart. I’m very hurt and disappointed with the treatment I received. If he only knew the reason I was there…I was there for my family who had a death.

My mother who volunteered to play at a funeral here was disrespected by some priest named “eduardo” she was told she could setup her instruments to play for the funeral in a certain area of the church. Then father eduardo or whatever his name is got after my mother leticia laura perez who is an educated musician with a masters and was also volunteering to play at my tia’s relatives funeral. Father eduardo scolded my mom in front of other people and it truly boils my blood hearing my mom say she felt like she was made a fool. My mother isn’t a rude person and if anything she was too nice about the situation, I am a man of god and to be honest a priest like him shouldn’t be a priest. I personally like to think that the usual priest doesn’t talk down on women but This guy Eduardo did and that’s unacceptable. godbless

The priest here after Mass asked me when I’m due (I’m pregnant) and then told me that I look like I’m having twins. I’m only having one baby so that was pretty insensitive of a comment. My OB says my belly is measuring very normal for how far along I am, thank you very much. 🙄 …
