  I was involved in this church community for over 10 years, primarily through kids ministry and consistent volunteering. I don’t regret the relationships or time spent there, but I am no longer part of the congregation and am at peace with that decision. Over time, several concerns accumulated that led to a shift in how I viewed the church. What once felt like a grounded, community-oriented environment gradually began to feel more curated and performance-driven. Earlier leadership under individuals like Kelly B, Steven, and Mike felt more stable and authentic. In recent years, the high turnover and cultural changes have been difficult to overlook. One area that consistently stood out was the church’s social culture around alcohol. Many volunteer and women’s events centered on bars, breweries, wine tastings, and similar environments. As someone who does not drink, it increasingly felt like an environment where full inclusion was not always considered, particularly for individuals who may be in recovery or simply choose not to participate. I also had ongoing concerns regarding leadership culture, particularly surrounding Pastor Chris. Over time, I heard multiple concerning accounts from individuals connected to staff. While I cannot verify those claims firsthand, the overall lack of transparency contributed to a sense of unease. In addition, the church has taken a deliberately non-committal public stance on LGBTQ-related issues. While it presents itself as broadly welcoming, responses on doctrine and practice tend to be carefully worded and ambiguous. From my perspective, this has created a lack of clarity that feels intentional. There were also financial decisions that raised questions for me, including the ownership of a beach property that is described as being used for retreats, while regular tithing remains a core expectation of members. Ultimately, the point at which I decided to step away came when the church announced a 21/22-year-old as a pastor. I do not question her personally, but from a professional standpoint, I believe pastoral leadership carries expectations of maturity, experience, and demonstrated judgment over time. That decision reinforced my broader concerns about leadership direction. I am not leaving from a place of anger. I am grateful for the people I met and the years I spent there. However, the church has changed significantly from what it once was, and for me, stepping away was the right long-term decision.

  Good coffee, great fellowship, and powerful message, every time. This church understands and lives the Christian mission. I have volunteered there for their regular bbq meals for the unhoused and their weekly shower ministry. I hope to be able to do more.

  I liked the church, it's just not for us. A little too relaxed and liberal. They served beer on Father's Day before and after service as an "appreciation" for the dad's.

  I originally started going here because a girl invited me and I thought she was cute (probably not the best reason to go to Church). A few years ago, I went through a really difficult spot in my life and was contemplating suicide. I had severe depression and anxiety. The people at this church (especially the pastors and staff) were there for me. They didn't act like they knew everything, but were there to listen and give support. If they weren't there I don't think I'd be here today. Not only am I happier than I can remember, but I'm able to use my experience to help others who are struggling. I was able to finish my master's degree and am almost done with a PhD. They have lots of great volunteering opportunities and through going here I have learned to be more compassionate, caring, and a better listener.

  A truly great experience through and through. The band plays great modern Christian music, with a beautiful violin that blends perfectly with the band. This is a casually dressed type of atmosphere. The walls are decorated with modern art created by very talented local artist. It has a modern art studio vibe. A great church for the whole family, they also have great child care as well. A high level of quality in all areas that this church and church community does. If you are looking for a new church in inner city Houston, this is a must.
