  It was a beautiful day on our 43rd Church Anniversary. At the end of service we honored our beloved late Pastor Apostle Bishop Nathaniel Holcomb with a white balloon release. It was beautiful commemoration to the life and legacy of this awesome man of God! He is missed but never forgotten. His wife accepted the mantle of pastor and is moving us forward in what God has in store for the Christian House of Prayer! To God be the Glory 🙌🏾 for the things He is doing, has done and going to do! ❤️❤️❤️

  My experience with Christian House of Prayer and its affiliate ministry, The Center of Worship (under the leadership of Pastor Tina Tate and Pastor r. Lee tate), has led me to share some serious concerns regarding the integrity and biblical alignment of both organizations. While these ministries outwardly present themselves as houses of faith, my personal observations reflect something much different behind the scenes. In many ways, The Center of Worship mirrors the exact same behaviors, structure, and spiritual dysfunctions that have been normalized at Christian House of Prayer for years. One of the most troubling parallels between the two ministries is their shared excessive focus on financial gain. Teachings are often laced with messaging that encourages—if not pressures—parishioners to give beyond their means, with promises of divine blessings in return. This creates an environment where generosity is manipulated, and the offering plate becomes more central than the gospel message. I’ve personally witnessed both churches operate like money-hungry looters of their members’ bank accounts, turning what should be voluntary, Spirit-led giving into an obligation motivated by guilt or fear. Even more alarming is the unbiblical leadership structure within both churches. While I believe God uses women powerfully in ministry, the Bible clearly outlines limitations regarding women in positions of authority over men within the church. For example: • 1 Timothy 2:12 – “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” • 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 – “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience…” • Titus 1:5-6 – when speaking of church leadership, Paul references “the husband of one wife,” indicating a male role in oversight. Despite these clear directives, both ministries have elevated female leadership in ways that directly contradict these passages. This is not a critique of women—it is a call for churches to remain submitted to biblical order, not cultural convenience. Moreover, these ministries are riddled with secrecy, deception, and underhanded behavior. Matters that should be addressed with transparency are often swept under the rug or hidden entirely. Leadership accountability is nearly nonexistent, and those who question authority are subtly pushed out, shamed, or publicly discredited. For example, Minister Janea Flanders, a young woman under the leadership of Pastor Tate, has reportedly participated in writing letters to former members on behalf of church leadership. These letters, instead of offering reconciliation or grace, shame individuals for distancing themselves from the ministry—another troubling tactic that uses young people to carry out the church’s less favorable tasks. This practice is spiritually manipulative and emotionally damaging. In addition, ritualistic practices like the so-called “foot-washing ceremonies”—where women and girls are required to have their feet washed by Pastor Tate or a chosen male leader—are not only absent from Scripture in this context but also raise serious concerns about boundaries and the intent behind such performances. These rituals can easily become symbolic of something much darker, especially when done under pressure or without clear biblical justification. The overarching issue is this: when a church—any church—begins to stray from the clear guidance of the Word of God, everything else soon unravels. No matter how charismatic the leaders may be or how powerful the worship feels, if the foundation is not rooted in sound doctrine and true humility, spiritual abuse can and often does occur. It is my sincere hope that these ministries return to a foundation of transparency, accountability, and biblical truth. Until then, I urge others to exercise caution.

  I’ve been attending this church for five years and can’t put into enough words how truly blessed I’am to find such a wonderful place to worship and learn about the Lord. Every service you can feel the Holy Spirit just move in you. Our Pastor Valarie Holcomb is not just a preacher but a teacher of Gods word! Stop listening to the negative things you may hear and come and experience for yourself the living room of God!!

  This church invites people to attend but doesn't know what to do with them once they visit. Personally attended this church for over 6 months and never really met anyone and I'm sure no one even noticed. I hope the members see this and really do something to make a difference. The pastor hands down is a great preacher (that's why I kept attending) but as members you have the greater responsibility to take care of one another not just the people you know. One of my friends has been there 5 years and STILL knows no one but her own children she takes. Today I invited her to my church after our conversation. Also, saying thank you for coming is not all it takes to keep a person coming back. Acknowledge everyone not just the people who came to church with you. This goes for in and out of church. When church ends people struggle to say hi- it was awkward to smile and have people just walk by. Where is the love they say they have? No disrespect to this church either. We are all human in the end.
