Great place for people that needs community support and services.

This is the worst place that you can be referred to for help. They most definitely discriminate. They are not here to help all zero out of 10. Do not recommend unless you have children. Apparently, you can only get help if you have kids.

Normally I don’t like to leave a bad review because I overstand customer service however tho we all fall short of Gods Glory I recently fell into a bind and was just seeking information about who to reach out to concerning my situation and considering this is a church I expected an sincere soul of Jesus Christ but I was not only rushed off the phone but person was insincere in helping with other resources smh but as above so below and I pray that The Most High be merciful to that person when there time comes to walk in other shoes…RESPECTFULLY 🙏

I referred a young lady to this very agency who when she called last was told to email all these different things, she did so that following day. She just got a job offer last week, but definitely needs help with her rent she hadn't heard from Urban Ministries since she called last week, so she stopped by their location today. My heart broke because this young lady has a job that she starts this week she even did a job over the weekend to raise some money towards her late rent that for this month. Urban Ministries told her that she wasn't placed on the list last week but there were a few papers with no names on them no contact information, so they have to add her to the list today but they did find her emails from last week. They said there's 25 people in front of her, only one person is going through the stack, and they can't even tell her when she would even be called, if she would be helped, how much money there is. It's like they didn't even hear her story or the information she was sharing about the fact that she raised some of her money for her rent, she has a job but she's trying to avoid eviction. They don't base they're willingness to help or act in a timely manner when it comes to emergency situations. When we called or tried to find other agencies that can help her in this time of need they all said they donate money to this very agency and I informed them that maybe they should reconsider their donating to this agency. They're picking and choosing how fast to move, who to help, it is sad that people that are working are seen as people who don't need help or people who now have a way to make money don't need help while people who don't work, don't want to work, rely on the system get everything. My heart breaks for this lady she has two kids in her home she didn't even wait on unemployment that she got approved for, kept job hunting, got a job, and still can't get help. This agency is sad there needs to be more than one person going through those stacks of papers, the necessary parties need to know how much funds are available in order to know how many can be helped in emergency situations to avoid homelessness and eviction. We're supposed to be a helping hand and instead we're hurting our community. The people who are starting new jobs, or got laid off should be prioritized with kids because if you help them, they can get back on track quicker, they only need a helping hand.

I called a week ago and the lady I spoke with via telephone was very rude. I have only heard good things about them that's why I reached out for help. I lost my job in May when my 3 month old contracted to dangerous viral infections. He was on a vent for almost 2 weeks which caused me not to be able to work. You never know what someone is going through. Always treat others with kindness. Not everyone is looking for a easy hand out. Some of us really are hurting and need assistance.

For anyone requiring assistance from a reputable organization, Urban Ministries is your place. I received professional services in an environment that was warm and welcoming. I got a chance to catch up and pay my utilities. They ran out of money for Rental Assistance, but I'm happy for my Blessings. Stay Blessed not Stressed and Grateful never Hateful 😘

Felt very unpleasant to me it seemed they were showing some kind of favoritism and my family and I not being one of those favored and it was my first time there. We noticed the big difference in the small families leaving with more than twice as much as we received knowing after speaking with the other family they had 4 ppl and in my home at the time I had 10. 2 of which I counted count for because they didn't have all the info I totally understand but only 1 income in the home and they couldn't help assist with any funds that they stated they had to help get my water turned on which I had all but $50 out of the $200 it costed because of the deposit. Definitely made me feel like we were unworthy of their help

Just left an appointment here. Rude is and very disrespectful is an understatement. I’ve never applied for any assistance from this organization and wish I would have never even come. The director Ms. C.C found that If the organization helped me it wouldn’t solve my immediate problem and sarcastically tells me to be blessed as if it were up to her I wouldn’t be. I wouldn’t recommend a place like this to a dog. Let alone another human being. The other staff members say there and you could see the shame on there faces even with a mask. I brought her all the documents and even disputes. She didn’t care all she wanted to do was be rude.

These people won't help you. They'll throw what they can at you, maybe some old clothes or possibly a loaf of bread, but they're not going to help you. I have a feeling they're pocketing their own funding. that's my opinion. This is the first time I've ever needed help and all I got was a gruff, uncaring and unfeeling human being on the other end of the line. Don't waste your time unless you're running from someone trying to kill you. It's a possibility you could get help then.

Very courteous staff. Was the first to arrive a half hour early. People lined up at the door ahead of me. I was fourth after signing in. Grr. I waited for almost an hour while people came in to take food. A lady then came out and informed me funds were allocated already for today and that I could come back tomorrow at 8! I was there at 7:30 today. I had to leave because I was about to have a breakdown in their office. I’ve never applied for assistance before and now I know I won’t ever again.

You would have to inquire to find out all the services they offer. They do not offer housing assistance, this I do know. Short of that they do offer a lot. Clean clothes for interviews or just a clean set of clothes, sleeping mats, food etc. Info on other social services is also available here.

I went to Urban Miniseries for rent assistance, but unfortunately for me they had stopped accepting applications as they were calculating funds. The staff was very friendly & asked if they could assist in another way. I did get two large food boxes & assistance loading them. The only downside I could see is that they are located downtown with paid parking.

I can't begin to say how blessed we are to have such a warm hearted Christian base charity that cares so much for us is the best. The people who volunteer are so kind. May God continue to bless this place. In Jesus name. Amen.
