I attended a Sunday service at The River about a year ago, and honestly, I didn’t remember much from that visit. But after recently signing up for a marriage course at the River, I was reminded of how amazing this church truly is...especially the people and the preaching. This past weekend I went back with a fresh set of eyes. The head pastor delivered a powerful message, calling us to test and approve what is good when we hear biblical teaching. He challenged us to ask, “Is this from God or from men?” Even more, he encouraged the congregation to hold him accountable if his preaching ever strayed from Scripture. That kind of humility isn’t something you hear from pastors often, and it made me respect him even more. I’m keeping my eyes and heart open to what God has in store for me and my family here at The River. Needless to say, this church has earned my upmost respect.

I saw the cross from about 8 miles back on the interstate and it's nothing short of amazing! Talked with the office and they were very helpful as well. Very inviting!!! Wish I had more time to attend a service!

Pastor Steve’s sermons are so real, informative, helpful, fun, encouraging, inspiring and energetic. The world needs Jesus and thankfully He is here. So much fun to see baptisms. Easy to connect with men’s groups, small groups and meet people. Dean, Kristy and Paul are such good people and I recommend meeting them. Worship music, great singing, guitars, with Ethan and the crew are fantastic and hit you with such good feels 😀

The River has been a blessing to me and my family. If you visit this church it’s likely that this will literally be the best worship music and sermons you’ve heard in your life. I’ve been to a lot of churches in my life, and I’m not exaggerating. God really is working through this church. When Pastor Steve speaks you can feel how much he has a heart to reach the lost through Jesus. I really appreciate how down to earth and approachable he is. The kids church is great too. Our kids seem to love going to church which is not how I felt about going to church when I was a child! 😆

Gosh, where do I start! :) My husband, our son and I moved here from Illinois. We have been looking for the right church since we got here. The overwhelming warmth we felt in this church was incredible! From the people opening the door to the building, to the greeters for new comers. They had FREE coffee, lemonade, tea, water and donuts. We were greeted with Good morning from several people. We had such a warm welcome and not overwhelming. We feel very blessed to have found this family.

Extremely wonderful and caring people. My family and I felt welcome, and not pressured to join immediately. I would recommend any new comer to the Cookeville area to come by and listen to the sermon and meet the the congregation. Awesome place for kids as well. Good security and very loving volunteers that REALLY care about them.
