We have been attending Sagrado Corazón de Jesús for several years and overall it has been a blessing to our family. We attend the Spanish Mass and our children participate in catechism here. The church is beautiful, the priests are wonderful, and we are grateful for a place where our family can grow in the Catholic faith. We go every Sunday and consider it our home parish. That said, I do think it’s important to share that experiences can vary depending on the group or setting. In certain situations, particularly around medical decisions or health concerns, I have personally felt that prayer was emphasized over practical medical advice in a way that felt dismissive. I deeply believe in prayer but I also believe God works through doctors and medical guidance. I think there is room for both faith and wisdom. I have also occasionally felt judged or misunderstood in the Spanish community because of how I look. I am Hispanic, but I don’t necessarily “appear” that way to everyone, and sometimes assumptions are made. I hope the parish continues growing as a place where all families feel equally welcomed and understood. Overall, we love our church and remain committed to our faith. I share this only in the hope that it continues growing as a place where every family feels understood and cared for.

Usual commodities have moved to this new location. Staff was very nice. Had difficulty finding actual building to receive. Reccomend more signs posted for direction. It's a huge area.

My husband was having hypotension at a group gathering and I had called the ambulence. The dispatcher told us to wait by the nearest exit to make it easier for the parametics ,but one of the group leaders insisted on taking him further into the church to pray for him. This wasnt some religious "coming-to" episode. My husband could've died. I did not let anyone take him and waited for parametics. This all happened during some shouting&standing prayer, my husband was dizzy and wanted to sit down but the leader made him stand which is when he passed out. I highly recommend if you have health issues attend only the caucasian-majority masses. Any other mass is very patronizing if you arent like the people who attend.Especially the marriage classes, all the priests are wonderful and secretaries, just not small group leaders (atleast the one i have encountered)
