Our wedding at Sugar Hollow Retreat was absolutely perfect, and we truly could not have asked for a better venue. From the beautiful mountain views to the peaceful atmosphere and accommodations, everything exceeded our expectations. Our guests are still talking about how incredible the property was and how much they enjoyed their stay. The food was also absolutely delicious. Every meal was wonderful, and our guests had so many great things to say about it throughout the entire stay. Having great food included was such a huge bonus and added so much to the overall experience. What made the experience even more special was Nicole, the wedding coordinator. She was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Nicole made the entire day run so smoothly that I never once had to worry about a thing. She handled every detail behind the scenes, kept everything on schedule, and made sure both us and our guests were taken care of. Being able to fully enjoy our wedding day without stress was such a gift, and we have Nicole to thank for that. If you’re looking for a venue that is beautiful, organized, and truly cares about making your wedding day special, I cannot recommend Sugar Hollow Retreat enough. It was the wedding of our dreams, and we are so grateful for the memories we made there.

There aren’t enough words to describe how incredible an experience it was to get married at Sugar Hollow Retreat. My wife and I knew we wanted an intimate destination wedding weekend with all our closest friends and family. After looking through literally hundreds of options around the country, we stumbled on the Sugar Hollow website and fell in love. After a couple of calls with Kaleigh, we knew we had found our venue. Over the summer we tried visiting Sugar Hollow for a tour but were unable to with our busy schedules. Planning a destination wedding sight unseen seemed like a daunting task but Nicole quickly laid those fears to rest. As the venue-provided wedding coordinator/planner, she was extremely experienced and knowledgeable. The materials she was able to provide about the lodging, food options, decorations, and planning proved extremely helpful and she was able to quickly answer all questions that we had to keep the months leading up to our wedding stress free. Plus, in the final couple of weeks she did an excellent job helping us solidify many of the finer details, coordinate with all our vendors, provide an entire wedding weekend timeline, and generally take the pressure off my wife and me. Finally, we got to the wedding weekend. Having never visited Sugar Hollow Retreat we had high hopes but lots of uncertainty about what to expect. From the minute we pulled up at Overmountain Hall, our expectations were completely blown out of the water. The reception hall and view from the amphitheater were stunning. Nicole herself was somehow even more friendly and personable than we already knew she was from our phone calls. The entire vibe of the property perfectly matched the intimate, remote, but cozy feeling we were looking for out from the weekend. As beautiful as the pictures on their website are, the views in person are truly a sight to behold. Over the course of the four days, we had the time of our lives with 80 of our closest friends and family. Dinner and a fire at Sitton House was a great way to kick off the weekend. A Friday morning group hike and tacos at Maple Meadows with yard games and a margarita bar kept our guests entertained all afternoon. The wedding rehearsal at the amphitheater was extremely helpful and went smoothly thanks to Nicole and then the full-group rehearsal dinner of tenderloin and salmon (sweet potatoes and cornbread were also amazing) was a perfect lead up to the wedding day. Our wedding day itself was about as stress free as I imagine a wedding can get. The bridal suite is extremely spacious for the bridal group to get ready and hang out all morning while Sitton House was the perfect place to just relax and take in the morning with my groomsmen. The ceremony was gorgeous, set against the mountainous backdrop and everything went so smoothly. Afterwards we took wedding pictures at a couple beautiful stops around the property while our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the cocktail hour (GET THE CHARCUTERIE BOARD). Our wedding dinner of prime rib and crab cakes was to die for and the venue’s dance floor provided so much space for our guests to dance the night away. Everybody says their wedding was perfect but ours truly was the most perfect day. We had our reservations about booking Sugar Hollow because of the unknown but it was through the ease of working with Kaleigh and Nicole that we knew we were in good hands. Everything from the food, vendors, coordination, decorations, lodging, and natural beauty couldn’t have been more perfect. Book Sugar Hollow Retreat for your wedding, it’s that simple.

From the moment we arrived on Thursday through Sunday, the entire team treated us like family and went above and beyond in every way. Our wedding weekend was perfect in every sense. Between the stunning lodges, thoughtful accommodations, and incredible food, there was not a single complaint—only compliments and awe from our guests. What truly set Sugar Hollow apart was its unmatched attention to detail and personal care. The team gave us their undivided attention, anticipated our needs, and genuinely poured their hearts into making every moment of our weekend and wedding flawless. Every small detail was handled with care, making the entire experience feel seamless, stress-free, and utterly enjoyable. I trusted the venue coordinator, Nicole, and her team with 100% confidence. They took my vision and made it even more beautiful than I could have imagined. Every event—from the kick-off party to the rehearsal dinner, welcome party, wedding, and brunch—was executed perfectly. It was a full weekend, and they handled every single detail without hesitation. Sugar Hollow also delivered six absolutely amazing meals for us, all thanks to Anna, the food coordinator, and her incredible team. Not a single one of our 125 guests had any complaints—in fact, we received countless compliments on how delicious and memorable every meal was. From breakfast to dinner, each dish exceeded our expectations, and it was clear that Anna and her team put immense care, passion, and attention to detail into every bite. We cannot recommend Sugar Hollow Retreat highly enough. If you want a venue that goes all in for you and your wedding weekend, providing incredible food, flawless execution, and unmatched care, this is the place to choose!

Where do we start? Our wedding weekend at Sugar Hollow Retreat was nothing short of magical. The views are breathtaking, the kind that make you and your guests gasp as soon as they arrive. It wasn’t just a wedding; it was an entire weekend filled with love, laughter, and joy. The staff went above and beyond in every possible way to make our wedding dreams come true. From the earliest stages of planning to the final goodbyes, they were organized, responsive, and genuinely invested in making our celebration perfect. A special shoutout to Nicole, who guided us through every decision from recommending incredible vendors to helping with the tiniest details. She truly held our hands through the entire process and made what could have been stressful feel seamless and fun. We hosted 86 guests, and having most of them stay on-site made the weekend feel so special and intimate. The on-site houses were clean, cozy, and comfortable. The new houses are especially lovely and gave us options to gather throughout the weekend. The food at Sugar Hollow was incredible as well. Sugar Hollow catered the entire weekend, and every single meal was delicious. We really enjoyed our Italian feast (chicken piccata & Eggplant parm) and the brisket BBQ was fantastic. From the welcome dinner to the wedding reception, our guests couldn’t stop raving about each meal. They also did a great job managing dietary restrictions, our guests made multiple comments on how appreciative they were for it. Our wedding was a mix of indoor and outdoor aspects, and the staff helped us make the most of both. The flow of the weekend felt effortless, and we were able to fully soak in the beauty of the mountains and the warmth of our people. We couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect place to start our marriage. Sugar Hollow Retreat gave us not just a wedding day, but a weekend we’ll cherish forever.

Honest Review Full disclosure: I didn’t get married at this venue, but my fiancée and I were serious about booking it. We inquired and toured. I’m sharing this to help others make an informed decision. Initial Visit We flew from Southwest Florida to tour the venue. The setting is undeniably beautiful—the mountain views, ceremony sites, and main hall are visually stunning. Some accommodations are renovated and charming; others are more rustic, which we expected.What caught us off guard was the cleanliness. Beds were unmade with sheets on the floor, dining areas had crumbs and chairs scattered, and the overall feel was unkempt. I’m not a clean freak but it felt like the place hadn’t been touched in days.I assumed maybe an event had just ended, so I asked our guide. She said the last wedding was over a week ago and didn’t seem to understand the reason behind my question. No one apologized or gave a heads-up, which felt off given that we flew in for this tour.When I brought it up at the end, the guide casually mentioned that the staff were on vacation and they were between seasons. That might be true, but leaving a venue in that state for over a week, especially when hosting potential clouples is a bad look imo. At minimum, they should’ve communicated or cleaned up before our visit. Second Chance Despite our concerns, we circled back, it's rare to find an all-inclusive venue in the mountains with on-site lodging. We requested updated pricing and received a brochure with 2025–2026 rates. But the actual proposal was $1,000 higher. When we asked, the manager said it was due to property improvements, which is understandable. But again, there was no advance notice or apology. It wasn’t about the money, it was the way it was handled.We still moved forward. That’s when we saw in the proposal that we’d need to pay a 50% deposit before they'd send he full contract, which puts us in a precarious situation.  I’m not suggesting they’d be dishonest, but handing over thousands without knowing the terms didn’t sit right.We requested a sample contract. It included a clause stating that in the event of an “act of God” or natural disaster, all payments would be refunded less the 50% deposit. No couple is betting on some freak circumstance like that occurring, but in a weather scenario, we'd want the option to reschedule. The language didn't reflect that option. When we asked for clarity, they said not to worry, it's legal jargon, but didn't offer to amend it. That felt like a big ask for trust without formal protections. I told my fiancée, “This just isn’t for us.” Final Interaction After we declined, they finally apologized for the earlier issues and offered to revise the contract. But by then, we had made our decision and moved on. Closing Thoughts The venue is beautiful and has potential. But our experience revealed too many red flags, lack of cleanliness, poor communication, and a contract/payment process that didn’t align with our expectations.We really wanted it to work. But after several uneasy interactions, we had to walk away.If you’re considering this venue, ask detailed questions and advocate for yourself. I hope your experience is smoother than ours.

Can’t possibly say enough amazing things about Sugar Hollow Retreat!! BOOK IT. This venue is one of the most beautiful venues my wife and I have ever seen & they took extraordinary care of us throughout the entire process. They know what they are doing, and they run their weddings like velvet clockwork. HIGHLY IMPRESSED & HIGHLY RECOMMEND this venue. Look no further if you want a breathtaking mountain venue. Had a beautiful wedding here! Sugar Hollow was kind enough to put a wedding package up for auction at a fundraiser. First sign they are wonderful people. My family was lucky enough to end up the recipient. Sugar Hollow went above and beyond every step of the way to ensure I had an amazing experience. Nicole checked in with me regularly about my needs and even changed my date when a family emergency came up. This venue offers so much to make the entire experience stress free. All I had to do what pick my guests rooms, food from the menu, decor options and time of the events and I was done! The rooms and views were GORGEOUS. We stayed in Sitton House and Campbell Cabin. Each room has its own private restroom, thermostat and patio doorway to outside. Everyone was impressed and happy with their accommodations. My suite had a giant tub with outdoor views, rainfall shower and heated floors! There was also a fireplace with a remote. The outdoor areas were also super nice with a fire pit and games, and a beautiful mountain/lake view. We had our wedding at the smaller outlook which offered an amazing view. The ceremony was perfect. The food was OUTSTANDING. Oh my goodness!! Best shrimp and steak tips I've had in a long time. Everyone was raving and all leftovers were taken home because it was so good. We were fighting over who got to take what 😂 (light-heartedly) All in all we had an amazing experience. It was such a blessing because I didn't think I'd get to have a nice wedding and was so worried about the stress of everything, but the staff at Sugar Hollow Retreat took care of it all. My only tips for the venue would be to have someone to meet guests at the large outlook to redirect guests who may end up there by accident when they are using the overlook. I was careful to let all my guests where to go, but....people are people and may not always read directions,lol. We had to do a bit of rerouting. The staff however was super helpful with this when they realized my guests were at the wrong place. The staff there helping with food even offered to guide them to the right location. Also a "get ready" chair in the bridal suite would be a nice added feature ❤️ If considering Sugar Hollow for a stay or a wedding DON'T SECONDS GUESS IT. This place is a dream and you couldn't be better taken care of by all the staff.

Sugar Hollow is the wedding destination dreams are made of! The setting is stunning and serene, and the staff is unmatched. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding experience. The quality of everything from the rooms, to the vendors, to the planning and execution was beyond anything we could have hoped for. The coordinator Nicole French is amazing to work with! Her communication was excellent and she handled everything so beautifully that there was no stress leading up to or during the day of the event. I cannot recommend Sugar Hollow enough, we truly had the wedding of our dreams and created memories that will last a lifetime.
