Our Visit to Radha Krishna Temple at Murari Sanctuary – A Blissful Experience in Shelbyville, TN Today, we had the divine pleasure of visiting the Radha Krishna Temple with my visiting parents from India at Murari Sanctuary, nestled in the serene countryside near Shelbyville, Tennessee. This sacred and peaceful retreat is unlike any other—a truly spiritual and natural haven where devotion and sustainability go hand in hand. The sanctuary is lovingly maintained by Mr. Gadi Das, an American owner, devotee of Lord Krishna whose dedication and simplicity have created a unique atmosphere filled with devotion, compassion, and harmony with nature. His warm hospitality made us feel not just like visitors, but like a part of their spiritual family. One of the most heart-touching experiences was witnessing the Gir cows—a revered Indian breed known for their gentle nature and spiritual significance. These cows are cared for with immense love and respect, following the principles of Ahimsa (non-violence). Their presence added an uplifting energy to the entire space. We also explored the natural farming initiatives at Murari Sanctuary. From fresh vegetables grown without chemicals to honey bee colonies producing pure, organic honey, the sanctuary is a model of sustainable living and ecological balance. It’s inspiring to see a place where food is cultivated not just for health, but also as an offering to God. At the heart of it all is the Radha Krishna Temple, radiating peace and divine love. One of the most memorable moments of our visit was when Mr. Gadi Das sang a soulful spiritual bhajan while playing the harmonium, beautifully seconded by Ms. Chintamani on the manjira. The vibrations inside the temple during this kirtan were truly blissful and uplifting—a moment of pure devotion we will cherish forever. Whether you are seeking spiritual rejuvenation or just a quiet escape into nature, Murari Sanctuary offers the perfect blend of bhakti (devotion) and eco-conscious living. We returned refreshed, inspired, and grateful—for the darshan, the learning, and the love.

Peaceful and divine place. The Krishna temple is beautifully maintained, and the Gaushala shows real love and care for the cows. A visit here fills the heart with calm and positivity.

From the moment you step out of the car, the only sounds competing with the gentle drizzle are peacocks calling in the distance 🦚 and the soft lowing from the Goshala. A winding path leads past lush, emerald fields 🌳 to the main temple hall, where a beautifully carved altar 🛕 houses charming Radha‑Krishna deities dressed in pastel silks and fresh blossoms. Sitting for a few quiet minutes in front of Them while the rain pattered on the roof felt like instant meditation 🕉️—no chanting experience required, just breathe and let the stillness sink in. Just outside, a framed portrait of the movement’s founding ācārya, garlanded and softly lit, adds a personal touch to the prayer space. Volunteers greeted us with warm smiles 🤗 and pointed us toward the cow sanctuary. Meeting the gentle Gir, Brahman, and Jersey cows at eye level—some curious, some contentedly chewing hay—was unexpectedly therapeutic. Their shelter is immaculately kept, and informative posters explain how the milk is turned into ghee, yogurt, and paneer for the community. 🌿🐄🥛 What makes this place special is its seclusion: set well off the main road, surrounded by woods and wildflowers, it feels worlds away from city chaos. Yet it’s only about an hour’s drive from Nashville 🚗. Always a great vibe when I visit Murari Sanctuary. People are so welcoming here. They have a big area which has a Goshala where you can feed the cows. They have a beautiful Radha Krishna murti.

Very nice place and lot of positive vibes especially spending time with cows. If you’re planning to visit recommend to carry some Bananas to feed cows(if interested). Definitely recommend to others.
