The pastor, Shawn Street, writes yellow journalism for The Lebanon News, and ruins the lives and reputations of the people he writes about. Busted papers are nothing but the modern day equivalent of the pillory of a bygone age where public humiliation was a common punishment. The more things change, the more they remain the same. How does society expect those with a record to reintegrate into society when no one will hire them because their crimes they already repaid their debt to society for were publicized? People need money for food and housing. When you can't get a job because you've had your reputation tarnished, what options are left to you but crime to secure a living? Once the prison industrial complex has you under its radar, it alway does and it intentionally sets you up to be forced to resort to crime to survive. For an area that prides itself so much on its Christian culture and values, this area sure is unforgiving and the law is heavy-handed.
