My Experience with Racial Discrimination at Christ Worship Center White House TN I want to share an experience I had at this church to bring awareness to the kind of behavior that shouldn’t be happening especially in a place that preaches love and acceptance. One day, I was in the church parking lot teaching someone how to drive. The lot was empty, which made it a safe and convenient place to practice. We drove in circles for about 30 minutes without any issues. There was a lady outside who saw us but didn’t say anything, so we continued. After a while, an older man came out and stopped us. He asked us to roll down the window and began speaking in a very disrespectful tone. He claimed that we were making both him and the lady “nervous” by driving in circles. I was confused because we were simply practicing driving safely in an empty lot. He also said he had waved at us twice and that we “weren’t being friendly,” which wasn’t true I had acknowledged the lady earlier with a nod. Even as I tried to explain the situation calmly, he continued speaking to us in a rude and condescending manner. I told him that the way he approached us was disrespectful and that he owed us an apology. He never apologized. The lady eventually also didn’t apologize , saying they were preparing for an upcoming event, and I apologized as well just to de-escalate the situation. But the man kept repeating that we made him nervous and that he had “worked security for years.” It was disappointing and frustrating to see this kind of behavior happen on church grounds especially from people who claim to represent Christian values. As a Christian myself, I believe we’re called to treat everyone with kindness, understanding, and respect, not suspicion or hostility. The fact that two Black people simply driving in circles made them “nervous” says a lot. I tried reaching out to the church afterward to discuss what happened, but no one ever returned my call. I’m sharing this to raise awareness not to attack anyone but to highlight how situations like this reflect deeper issues that need to be addressed. We all deserve to feel safe and respected, regardless of race or background.

I recently moved to the area and visited CWC. It was a wonderful experience! Everyone was so warm and welcoming. Many people from the congregation came to introduce themselves and made me feel right at home. I will be going back!

This is truly the most amazing church I’ve ever been to. Pastor Roy and Pastor Steve are both absolutely incredible — truly some of the best men of God I’ve ever known. Everyone at this church is so helpful, loving, and genuine, and we just absolutely love being here. The Spirit really moves in this place, and it’s amazing to be a part of it!
