A wonderful and truly reverent Catholic liturgy at a beautiful and well-maintained historic church. The preaching was also good. It was a pleasure assisting at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass while passing through, and I highly recommend it to locals and travelers alike.

Had to leave a little early after holy communion when 2 ushers told me I was not fulfilling my obligation. Unacceptable church behavior. Did not know it was a traditional Latin mass when I came. Christ is KING!

Very conservative catholic church with the extraordinary format which is the old latin form. It was 1.5hrs mass. I felt like i was back in time.

We are not local and attended Sunday Latin High Mass here. We were unprepared and sadly under dressed (no collared shirts much less suit and tie for males and no dresses/vails for women). I was slightly embarrassed by our attire though not made to feel that way by the congregation. (The priest was very welcoming after Mass). Mass itself was a beautiful celebration and brought back childhood memories of pre-Vatican II. Mass books had both Latin and English so could easily follow. This Mass displayed the dignity, solemnity and spirituality that I feel is sometimes missing at other Masses. It was a wonderful and memorable experience.

A beautiful worship Sunday that you don't usually find. Though this is not my home parish, I highly recommend for any considering going. I recommend the 'when in Rome' attitude. Dress well and conservatively, be ready for the latin and the length, and grow in your faith. missals are very helpful.

The negative reviews posted here made me think that this is a good Church! Modern Catholics have very little education in their faith. They have never been taught that the Lord and Creator of the universe is personally present at the Mass, so you dress accordingly. They also think they can come and go as they please, arriving late or departing before the end. It sounds like this parish expects proper respect for the Mass. Good for them!

Tried to go to the 10 AM mass as a visitor to Rapid City. There is a dress code to enter the church and it is hanging on the door. Basically, if you aren't dressed to the 9's and do not have a veil on your head if you are female, do not enter. Oh, and my mom went in for about 15 minutes but wasn't even sure if mass had started because it wasn't in English, but Latin, maybe. We did find another church nearby which was very welcoming for those of us from out of town.

The negative reviews make me want to attend this Parish, too, all the more. We are considering moving to South Dakota and have attended an FSSP parish in South Florida for some years. (Yes, the FSSP is in communion with the Catholic church. They are devoted to perpetuating the Traditional Latin Mass. Their priests undergo a wonderful, rigorous formation, serve our Lord reverently in the Traditional Latin Mass and give fabulous homilies - not, as I like to call them, Hallmark card homilies.) Unfortunately, in this day and age, many Catholics have forgotten or, sadly, never learned that when we are at Mass we are in God's house and we should dress accordingly. You don't need to be "dressed to the nines" but you should be dressed modestly and reverently. In practical terms, this means that women's dresses or skirts should fall below their knees when seated, their upper arms should be covered and necklines should not fall more than a couple inches below the collarbone. One should not wear skin tight clothing out of modesty. Wearing a veil isn't required but it is culturally very much the norm in any Traditional Latin Mass. Likewise, men should dress modestly (i.e., no jeans, shorts or t-shirts). Dress slacks and business shirts at a minimum. It's not about "dressing to the nines" but rather dressing reverently out of the respect for our Lord and modesty towards our brothers and sisters. It's that simple. Of course, one should never enter Mass late or leave Mass early. We are there to offer petition, adoration, reparation and thanksgiving to God. So thrilled there is an FSSP parish in South Dakota!!!

I attended the 8am mass this morning and enjoyed the old Latin style mass till I received communion and decided to leave early. I was followed out by 2 gentleman one an usher and the other A a parishioner of the church i am thinking. They approached on the public side walk outside the church and verbally assaulted me for leaving after receiving the holy communion. They accused me of not swallowing the host and telling me I had no right to leave early. I have been a practicing Catholic for over 45 years, visited many churches all over the world and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. I asked the gentleman to please step back from my personal space or else I will have have to take action to defend myself. I felt disgusted and was scared for my safety. I had to walk backwards to my car and they continued to follow me. After unlocking my car; I sat in my car and cried because I was angry and saddened. I do not know if I was racially profiled; why was assaulted and harassed? I will contact the diocese and seek legal counsel for the behavior of the usher.
