When I returned to the States, I was looking for a church with a slightly more traditional liturgy but more forward-thinking values, and we (my husband and I) were a walk away from Emmanuel. Neither of us were raised in the Episcopal tradition (I was Methodist and my husband Catholic), but we immediately loved this church, where the people were friendly and open and the service beautiful. Sadly, life took us away from Rapid City, but we loved this church, and we happily sought out a similar one in our next home. If you're curious about the Episcopal church, this is a great church to visit. The coffee hour between services is a great bonus; when we were able to go, we enjoyed talking to congregation members and were treated to a short talk on the history and traditions of the denomination. Our thanks and love to Emmanuel for welcoming us so warmly when we returned to the Church.

Very welcoming! I have come to services here several times and I always hear something I can truly relate to. They welcome all baptized people to communion, you are not required to be Episcopal. Father Barnes and Mother Bird are wonderful people.
