Beautiful little church in the road. Parking is limited to four or five spots. The pics of the sunset come out espectacular overlooking the saltwater marsh

Definitely worth catching the sunset on Pawley's Island here! Beautiful views! Park across the street at high tide though or your car will get surrounded by water!

The Pawleys Island Chapel is a great location for a wedding ceremony overlooking the beautiful marsh inlet area of Pawleys Island. Large windows in the back of the chapel overlook the marsh. Right beside the chapel is a boardwalk out onto the marsh that is a great location for pictures of the bride and groom after the ceremony. The only thing to be careful of is to make sure it will not be high tide during your ceremony because the entrance to the chapel can flood from the marsh water. Pictures by Ryan Smith Photography.

This quaint, one-room sanctuary stands as a testament to the community's deep-rooted faith and tenacity. The chapel’s history is as unique as its marshside setting. Originally a Pentecostal Holiness Church in nearby Georgetown, the building was dismantled and transported to the island in 1946. It was painstakingly rebuilt by the Georgetown Laymen’s Association and dedicated on June 6, 1948, on land generously donated by Dr. and Mrs. J.H. Porter. What makes the chapel truly remarkable is its resilience. It has stood firm against the devastating forces of Hurricanes Hazel, Hugo, and Matthew. Following the catastrophic damage of Hurricane Hugo in 1989, the community and the Pawleys Island Rotary Club rallied to restore the structure, later elevating it onto a more secure foundation of 35 pilings in 2018. Today, it remains the island's only house of worship, hosting interdenominational services throughout the summer and offering a serene, "arrogantly shabby" backdrop for countless weddings and baptisms. It is a place where the simple beauty of the Lowcountry meets nearly eight decades of shared history.

Got married here 20 years ago and just revisited. What you can't see from the road is the back of the chapel is all glass!

Stopped by on the way back home so out visit was short. Very interesting place and would make beautiful sunset pictures! Next time we’ll visit there just at dusk for the photo op.
