**A Disappointing Display of Leadership and Character** A church youth group and their leaders (James 3:1) represents Christ and their congregation everywhere they go, yet two consecutive years at Foundry Day in Boiling Springs have revealed a troubling pattern of behavior. As an annual attendee of the festival, I enjoy interacting with vendors and shoppers alike, but I felt called to express concern with the behaviors of the teens and the leader in charge of them based on the following experiences: In 2025, the youth fundraising effort was defined by yelling, rudeness, and an appalling air of entitlement. Shockingly, their adult leader joined right in, modeling arrogance instead of Christian humility (Romans 12:3). This year, the behavior shifted from loud arrogance to calculated favoritism. I directly overheard this same leader instructing the teens to target only "smiling people" because they "would buy more." Even if taken out of context, this blatant partiality directly contradicts the teachings of Scripture regarding how we treat others (James 2:1-4). Fundraising should never compromise faith. If this group is meant to serve the Lord, the church leadership needs to seriously evaluate whether this individual possesses the spiritual maturity and integrity required to serve as an ambassador of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).

The ministers here are fabulous. They welcomed us with open arms right away, as did the congregation.
