  I was “church shopping” and was hooked by the smart worded sign out front - don’t fall for it. I thought this was going to my church. I even got baptized again here. I was wrong. For starters…this church does little to nothing for the community around New Oxford but has no problem trying to “help” the homeless states away by asking the congregation to donate socks for homeless shelters. Good idea but there are plenty of homeless shelters within a 25 mile radius, to include York and Harrisburg. The pastor is getting his doctorate, iPads, and everything else paid for by a donation based occupation…but preached two sundays in a row about needing money to repair a $500 window. There were only 10 people in the seats both times…the one family paid for it over two sundays bc it felt like they got guilt tripped into doing it. The pastor…Kevin W. …is very enthusiastic about the gospel but doesn’t practice what he preaches. Tells his parishioners to follow what the Bible says but I found out he doesn’t technically do it himself. He says he doesn’t believe in “The rapture” but literally believes everything about it - has no textual evidence to support his claims besides a loose interpretation, taking things out of context. Stated to me that was why he doesn’t preach/talk about that part of the Bible. His wife, Melody, who wrote a post down below, also became a pastor, is one of the most judgmental(for lack of a better word) people I’ve ever met…if she doesn’t like you. She went from being warm and bubbly to “death stares.” I had little to no interaction with her. Otherwise she is nice as all get out. When I called her husband out, in private, about taking biblical quotes out of context or straight up making things up to support his “the rapture isn’t real but I believe everything about it” theory…she flipped it like a light switch. So it ended up not being so private. The Sunday school teacher, Amanda J., with whom I trusted my kids, a person of probably an average IQ at best, tried to rub in her high IQ to me…a person with Mensa IQ level…about something she wasn’t even correct about nor was it church related. Then she continues the spat onto social media. She deals it out but blocks you when you get to her. Happened twice now IN THREE YEARS. Haha. These people are the epitome of what is wrong with and why people steer clear of organized religion. The worst of it…after I left…the pastors mother, of all people, started messaging me on IM about the church getting grants and how they were going to be a huge church…no observable changes are obvious from the outside if that’s the case - I live less than a quarter mile down the road. They’re always trying to get new people in to replace the aging population and can’t because people see through the facade. There are way better churches with way better leaders and pastors out there. Save your time and donations for a place that actually does something for the community around where it serves.

  I love Family Life church! This is a church that teaches the truth of the Bible. I’m so grateful to have a place that has helped me grow my relationship with God and has been a great place for my kids to learn also!

  There was a nice welcome in the parking lot even before we entered the building, stepping inside smiling faces greeted us, making us feel comfortable. The service presented had a modern edge with the word remaining Biblical.
