Details
Divine Restoration Church of God in Christ (COGIC) was founded in 2013 by Pastor Eric and First Lady Sonia Ewell, who were called to establish a ministry focused on community service and outreach in Duquesne, Pennsylvania. The church began with a small Bible study group and has since grown into a significant presence in the area, emphasizing both spiritual growth and social responsibility.
The church is part of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) denomination, a historically African American denomination within the Holiness movement. Divine Restoration is known for its outreach programs, including the Duquesne Food Pantry, which provides food assistance on Fridays, and the Street Ministry, which includes initiatives like Ministry Mondays, A Day of Giving, and The Clothing Closet. These programs aim to support the local community through food distribution, clothing assistance, and other forms of aid.
The church is located at 100 S. 7th Street, a building it officially took stewardship of in 2022 after receiving it as a donation from Grace United Church in Christ. This move allowed Divine Restoration to continue its mission in Duquesne without taking on debt, fulfilling a vision held by Pastor Ewell for years.
The church also offers a range of community services, including support for seniors, health care assistance, and educational programs. Visitors can expect a welcoming environment focused on both worship and service, with a strong emphasis on family and community involvement.
