  The church building is spacious and the members are warm and welcoming! It's one of the only churches in town that worships without instrumental music and tries to follow the Bible completely. The minister is old school, which means he can be harsh in his approach but he stands on the Bible truths. Saving the lost is this church's first priority. UPDATE: The minister Dr. Eugene Lawton passed away. He was such a great man of God that 14th St. was just re-named after him. This congregation is now rebuilding yet keeping the same principles as the word of God.

  I've visited this congregation ever since I was little. The worship services and the singing are worth coming to. Let me tell you, the Word of God is preached in this building! Dr. Lawton is still one of the greatest preachers ever in the church of Christ!

  What is there to say? Bro. Eugene F. Lawton, minister of the Newark church of Christ, passed away suddenly on March 12, 2022. I've known him my whole life, and it feels strange to walk into that building and he's not there. I keep expecting him to walk out of his office into the main sanctuary and step up to the podium to preach, but he'll never do that again. The church will continue on and they'll find a new preacher eventually.

  I've been to many churches but this one upholds what the true ministry of Christ is without any smoke mirrors. There are plenty of Ministries and alot to do. Most importantly the Word of God is preached unadulterated.

  Been going to this since I was a kid..My grandmother, and aunt had there funeral services here because they too was former members..Great Church

  I tried to speak to someone at the church and they didn't give me the time of day to complete my sentence. Then hung up on me. I thought a church of christ was suppose to be welcoming. Hanging up on me doesn't seem to inviting.

  Attending the Northeast Youth Conference at the Newark Church of Christ in New Jersey was is an experience of a lifetime. I encourage any congregation with youth to give your young people the opportunity to ENJOY Christian youth fellowship and fun in a spiritual environment.

  This is my home church where I grew up in. I attended until moving away to South Jersey where I now attended the Sunset Road Church of Christ where Bro. Chris Turner is the minister.
