  If you are looking for a place that will ALWAYS welcome anyone and everyone with open arms, this is definitely the place for you. Pastor Dornbach is an amazing man of God who teaches us from the Word of God, and not his opinion. He doesn't add or take away, which I absolutely love! You will definitely feel the spirit of the Lord when you walk into this place. They also have one of the best children's ministries that I've ever seen. Plus there are more activities, events and groups then I can name! It's a place with no judgement, only Love... ❤️💕

  True believers, servers and lovers of Jesus Christ ! I began attending this church when they first relocated from Liberty to Independence. The building was barebones, but the people were full of life! I could turn any direction and receive a helpful smile or a polite conversation. Since, the building has been completed, fully remodeled inside and out and it is phenomenal! Modern, clean facilities. Beautiful landscaping with a safe play area for children. Well designed layout for the many ministries offered. As far as the pastoral staff, they have become like family to me. They make time to listen and lead as pastors should. The volunteers have a true love of serving and I would trust them personally to teach my kids for years to come. The teachings are biblical and stay true to the Word of God. There is bible studies and discipleship training for those who are seeking to get a more in depth knowledge of the Word. Occasionally there are small groups offered for different types of gatherings and age groups. I would highly recommend this church to all, particularly to young families as I am a mother of 4 young kids. I love the fellowship of all the young families who attend although there is all ages. There is a deaf ministry as well! So many good things to say about the worship team as well. The musicians are truly anointed in their gift.

  This is the best church I have ever been to. The Spirit of the Lord is heavy on this place!!! I recieved the Holy Ghost for the first time after being prayed over. This place is highly anointed and appointed by the Lord Himself.

  My family and I have been worshiping at Refuge for 12 years now. Refuge offered activities for my boys when they were 8 and 10 years old. Then, as they transitioned into teens, more opportunities and events were offered. Now as Hyphen (young adults), they are able to be involved in various ministries in the church and now mentor others as they were mentored along the way. This is a wonderful place for families as it nurtures and helps "grow" your family, alongside you, throughout the years. Our family loves Refuge Church!

  Refuge Church started in Liberty, MO in 1971. I was there. ☺️ I had to clean my room, make sure the bathroom was clean and help set up chairs in our front room. That was a long time ago and this church is still alive and well. We our grew our building so moved we over from Liberty Missouri to Independence, MO in 2024. This is a growing group of people that gather to worship Jesus. There is great music, wonderful people, Bible quizzers, kids football, SAGES+55, new play yard, youth groups, a hopping SPARK kids program, and the greatest pastoral team around. Please come visit us. You will be loved! Everyone is at a different level with their walk with God. Wherever you are, we welcome you to come join with us no matter where you are in your journey. Acts 2:38

  Being at Refuge Church has been a life changing experience for me. I feel accepted and at home. Everyone is so welcoming and kind, including Pastor Gary who makes it his mission to get to know everyone personally. His preaching is outstanding and there’s never a dull moment. I love going to the Refuge facebook page to see what photo dumps were posted after each service! I absolutely love it here and the church has made me come alive again!

  Lord heard our prayers when my sister and I were praying for a church that felt like home. Lord said “I got you” and built this church near us and it has been wonderful to see it grow. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has planned for our family with this church. We love it too because they have child classes and nursing care. The people are great and so welcoming.   I have never felt more welcome in a church. My earthly family is mostly gone. I have many new friends here. Real friends! Pastor D. Blew my socks off on Sunday.
