  We always have a fun and memorable experience whenever we attend. There’s never any pressure, and we consistently leave with a meaningful message that stays with us. My son absolutely loves the class and looks forward to it every week—every Sunday he asks, “Mommy, can we go to MY CHURCH?!” That alone says it all. Highly recommend!

  Missed church service at my church and dinner want to miss church for the day. So I asked Google and we ended up at Substance Church. We felt right at home. Amazing and welcoming. Very friendly congregation. Might visit on and off.

  Amazing church that really tries to reach out and help one another. I started going in October and I usually try to slip through the cracks right away when new to a place but they picked me out and really talked to me more in getting to know me instead of "come to our church" concept. I really made me feel more comforted as they wanted to know my relationship and past to help me lean into a church. Now I have signed up to help volunteer, really close to some of worship team, and enjoy waking up early to listen to Pastor Pete's messages.

  Bro this is the most awesome church! They are sooo welcoming of all people and it is such an amazing place to encounter the Lord. Don’t hesitate coming and you won’t regret it! Also great kids, youth, and young adult ministries as well as small groups all around the twin cities.

  Have been to 2 services, and been moved each time. The atmosphere is welcoming and I hadn't been to church in years. Feels like a great community.

  I love this place so much. I started attending Substance back in October 2022. All the people I have met are so friendly. This church makes me feel at home. Our 2 year old enjoys and even looks forward to Substance kids every week. My husband and I have joined the foster one support group, we are in an ALPHA group with some amazing people. We just completed the growth track and will be serving within the next week.

  I really enjoyed services—high energy and fun. I also loved volunteering at the Manna Market events. But after my experience, I would caution anyone who is interested in Substance Church. If you are looking for a church that would offer more of a personal and personable experience, I would encourage you to look elsewhere. When the time came for me to attempt to reach out to, and speak with a pastor concerning something, I was ghosted. I actually had to ask another friend to ask some people he knew that worked there. I finally got an email that read like this: “Thank you for reaching out to us. We are not able to provide ________. —Best” At that point, I decided that Substance definitely wasn’t for me. The lack of compassion, lack of any concern for me as an individual and my situation, and lack of care to even have a conversation with me—made the decision to look for a different church easy. When I found a different church, my first conversation with the head pastor on the first day that I attended, he gladly and compassionately offered what I needed (it truly wasn’t a big thing I was asking!). What a difference. I’m sorry that Substance turned out to be such a negative experience for me.

  I’ve been going to Substance for 17 years. I don’t think I’ll ever have the words to describe how deeply Substance Church has impacted my life. Unless we move out of state- we’re lifers! 💖 They have been incredibly consistent about the message of God’s amazing LOVE for us. They are always encouraging and church is FUN!

  Having been to the downtown location before I figured I would come check out this location today. At the door I was treated with suspicion and a lack of respect for my own spiritual practices. As a Minister who is also an Anishinaabe American Indian, I burn sage to smudge myself and pray before entering a church as a way to prepare my mind and spirit for the sermon. Instead of the door greeters having a conversation with me asking me why im doing the things im doing and inviting me in as JC would have done. Without saying a word they called security on me! In my conversation with the security guards they demonstrated a fundemental lack of respect for the others. At one point in our conversation the security guard went as far as to bring up how muslims and other peoples prayers aren't welcome, bc in this day and age they want to "shoot up the place". His comments were very dogmatic, disrespectful and unchrist like. Respectfully I ask that the leaders of this church talk to the volunteers/staff about being inclusive, and respecting others as JC originally taught.

  Substance will always be my favorite! To find a church like this is rare. We moved to NC and it’s been so hard to find anything close to what substance is. Pastor Peter is fun and real and I love that he brings science into his messages! Every guest speaker is amazing too. The groups are great and there are so many ways to get plugged in to find your people. It’s truly the best church! I listen online every week!
